I'm pretty sure it is recommended to only light hone '97-'98 sleeves. '99 up can go .010 over stock bore.

Damn, sorry.

This is a resleeved block. All I know is that the sleeves are the old style Darton, I think back then they were wet sleeves.

Basically, its a 4.1" bore. He wants to go 4.125" because he has a free set of Wisecos from a friend. And the engine is out of the car ready to start going together. But this will save him the cost of a set of 4.125 pistons and he'll just pay to have ot bored to 4.125".

For N/A, should it be just fine at that bore.

All the LS1/LS6 blocks that were resleeved with Darton sleeves were wet. The LS2 Darton sleeves were dry. Here's the tech page from Darton's website. Google is your friend. http://www.dartonsleeves.com/dsCatalogue2009.pdf

I built dozens of them @ 4.125 bore. No problem there, even with a power adder! Built at least a dozen @ 4.160 bore too, and they were fine N/A.

Great man, thanks.

Also, its ok to bore the sleeves after this long. They won't loosen them in the process?
The engine was taken out a month ago and it was in tip top shape, no dropped sleeves, no drinking coolant, perfect. He's getting it for free. Wants to make a 441ci. He has a 4.125 crank already.

Default Ls1 mid

The LS1 MID sleeves were never offered in 4.100" bore. The sleeves are made to 4.110" bore which are usually bored and finish honed to 4.125". They did make some 4" bore sleeves which were identical to the larger bore on the exterior, in other words they could be bored to 4.160" finished size as well.

If this is an early style MID sleeved block, the sleeves are 5.675" long. The updated design are 5.800" long on all Darton LS liners both wet and dry. The shorter length is going to be touch and go for a 4.125" stroke. You have to be very careful with the piston skirt design.

And yes, you can bore the block if it indeed is an MID. The block must be finish honed with deck plates.

Hey thanks alot for jumping in here. The 4.125 Cola crank he has was the one in the engine for a long time. It has been checked out to be fine and will be reused. It has to be the shorter sleeves as this thing was built back in 2002 and was driven as a daily driver since about a month ago.

So if its been a 4.1 bore for this long, will going to 4.125 be just fine if he stays N/A? Or, what could he spray it with if he wanted to?

Thanks.
