Not trying to cause any issues but if you want 500+ inches is the LSX platform really the best choice? Just because it can be done does not always make it the best choice. You can build a 582 short deck BBC for significantly less than a 500 LSX and make more hp and torque. Yes it's a heavy pig and a tight fit in a Gen IV car but it can be done.

If you are looking for 1000 hp, an LSX with forced induction is the way to go and you can do this with a lot less than 500 inches. If you want 2000 hp that might be a different story.

Would the GM LS STOCK SLEEVE SHORT BLOCKS be good for a H/C combo around 500rwhp + a ~150 hit of nitrous? I see that pushes it over the 600hp limit they advertise.

Why spend all of this money on big cubes when a stock LS3 with .640" cam and full stainless works exhaust can make 537whp ( mustang dyno) on a stick 2010 camaro? Heads havent even been touched.

I'm not much of an engine guru (more like a cheque book engine guru, lol), but isnt' that kind of weak from 500cid?

HKE is building me a 502 RHS and we're shooting for a hell of alot more than that, n/a on pump gas.......

ERL blocks have taken up to 1500hp...the block itself is expensive, but it's up to the cutomer/buyer for what power level/setup you want...top end/boost/whatever...the block can pretty much do whatever you want. I believe SAM (school of automitive machinists) are close to 7 second 1/4 miles with their camaro running an ERL 500ci sleeved block...

I couldnt agree more, was just saying if you arent looking for monster power, it can be had in an LS3 but the ring lands on them are weak.

The ERL 500 engine is in the black Camaro and has run high 9's

The orange car that is running low 8's has a much smaller engine.

Learn something new everyday. I didn't know that the ring lands on the LS3 were weak. I've been checking out the Gen 5 forums looking for guys with 5XXrwhp + nitrous reliably. Does ERL make smaller cube bottom ends? Factory LS3 size is all I'm looking for. Like I said, if I can get 5xxrwhp and be able to dump 150-200 n20 into it I would be happy.

Thanks for the clarification, I got the 2 mixed up. But if I remember right, the orange car is using an ERL block as well, right?

They're using an LSX block now. The last engine was a C5R block, and before that an LS6 block.

Want something unique.....put this thing in your F-Body....$15,000 dyno tested and ready to install. 900 HP BBC.......and whip any LSx built car that spent close to double on their set-up.

Add a 250 shot on top for good measure......

If 565 is not enough, how about 811 with 1325 hp? Kind of expensive but unique would be an understatement.

Yeah but then you would have to cut the cowl all up and buy a new hood to fit over all that. Not to mention having to custom built headers for that. Fuel system will have to be re-done. Change your mounts and a host of other little things to shoe-horn that motor in there. I'll stick to my LS motors, but if I were to go dragstrip only then I say bigblock. I would still most likely stay ls though.
