Default Any word on a F.A.ST Intake for the L92 heads yet?

Just wondering how long before a better Intake comes out to match the flow for the L92 heads.

It said to be out Jan,09. I'm sure it will start hitting the speed shops in a month or two. Vengenace is doing all kinds of testing on it. I hope it produces like it did for the ls1 motors. If so it should really wake up my 402/ported l92's.

It would be sweet if Vengence would step in here and talk a little bit about how the progess is going with the L92 FAST.

Guys, NOBODY has this intake for testing as of yet. Katech did some testing on it last fall, I am told, because they helped with production on the intake. Beyond that, only FAST has them or has done any testing.

If you've got tracking info on an intake, check to see what you're receiving. It's not the new rectangular port 102mm intake from FAST. They are expected in April sometime and look very promising from what we've been shown by our rep over there Just like the 92mm intakes, Texas Speed will have a massive stocking order of the first intakes available and we will get to testing them the day they arrive. Stay tuned

States that this is for the LS7 as well? I thought only 92 & LS3?

Scheduled for release April 2009. Preorder now. Pricing has not been set.

FAST™ engineers teamed up with airflow specialists at RHS™ to develop a polymer intake manifold for rectangular port
GM L92/LS3/LS7 engines. Testing on a modified LS7 engine with a Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™ produced gains of 31.3
horsepower and 26.6 ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel over the stock intake.

The LSXR™ 102mm Intake Manifold features a three-piece modular design that allows easy disassembly and porting. Extensive testing led to a runner design that is longer and less restrictive and gives the user the ability to remove individual runners from the manifold for modification.
Constructed from the same advanced polymer material as the LSX™ 92mm Intake Manifold, the LSXR™ offers a host of benefits over aluminum aftermarket intakes, including lighter weight, increased strength and improved heat dissipating characteristics. While the LSXR™ features a 102mm air inlet that is perfectly suited to the FAST™ Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™, it can also be used with stock or aftermarket 90mm or 92mm throttle bodies. Other features include integrated nitrous bungs and perfect bolt-on fitment that allows the use of factory accessories without modification or clearance concerns. LS Port Identificatio

So if this product fits both L92/LS3 heads and LS7 heads, why cant you run an LS7 intake on L92/LS3 heads??

Exactly - just find a picture of L92 heads sitting next to an LS7 head and you'll immediately understand why.

I'm pretty sure the Ls7 version comes with a spacer and the intake is drilled for both intake bolt patterns. I saw a picture of an Ls7 intake on L92 heads one time, this is what was needed to get it to fit.

If the numbers are legit, The intake deffinately sounds promising. Test was supposedly done on an LS7 as well, which has a better flowing intake then an LS3. Can't wait to see what kind of gains on modified stroker ls3 after the intake has been ported

A runner designed for an LS7 wouldnt work well on an L92. Plus the port demsions dont line up, even if you could get an LS7 runner with an L92 port.

This is the first Ive heard of this, those are nice gains! The L92/LS3 version has been advertised as something like 12hp/14lbft gain. IIRC from PRI.

Is this to be like the ls1 style f.a.s.t where it can be ported for more gains?

I wouldnt say completely as I've heard just this a while back. I've also seen an Ls7 intake that was modified to fit on an L92 head and noticed what it took to get it to fit. This also might be part of the reason the runners are removable to be modified for either engine. WTF do I know though...

Would you want to pay $1000 for an intake an have to use spacers to make it fit?? Especially if your engine was the upper end LS7???

I wouldnt, and I promise you FAST takes things like these into concideration.

Yes, you can port or modify the port in any way you want since its removable. Heck Im sure people will start making thier own runners on CNC machines, carving them out of plastic, or widdling them out of wood....

People will tinker with anything, its just what we do.
