Are my headgaskets still good?
Are my headgaskets still good? I ordered a new set of stock GM headgaskets about a month ago(maybe two, I can't remember). They were in the bottom of a box of parts that I had ordered and just as they were shipped from the place. They are unopened and don't seem to have any rips in the package. Somehow they have rust in some spots and the backsides of them are stuck to the paper that was in the plastic with them. They have been stored in my bedroom since I bought them. I tried to separate them from the paper, but some of the paper is still stuck to them. Can I just clean them off with carb cleaner or should I try to get them exchanged? I just wasn't sure if I could clean headgaskets with chemicals or scrape them clean or not. Let me know soon.

if theyve never been run, the just soak them down with wd40, and peel the paper off. dont take a a wire brush to them. but if it bothers u try to send back, or get new ones. 100$ bux is cheep peace of mind
I went ahead and opened one today and it's just too rusty for me to trust it. It has rust like it's been sitting outside for a few months. The paper inside the package stuck to the gasket very badly. Hopefully they will exchange them for me since it wasn't my fault...or was it? Do headgaskets have to be used right away or can you store them for a couple months? The invoice shows that I ordered them on July 1st.
