Should I mill LS7 heads while they're off?
Opinions welcome! The engine already has forged pistons with these specs:
Rod - 6.077
C.D. - 1.163
Weight - 460
Pin - 9252” (23.5mm) x 2.250”
CC’s - -3.84cc
70cc , 72cc
11.2, 11.0
These pistons use the factory 6.077” Titanium rod, and the stock .9252” (23.5mm) pin diameter
The current head gasket is a Cometic which I think is .040" thickness.
The heads are going to be ported at WCCH and I'm wondering if I should have them milled?
It will see lots of heavy street action, maybe even a missed shift. The cam is still a deciding point but probably between 232 - 242 net intake duration. (.050" lift), and valve lift probably less than .650 for both I/E.
It will be paired up with an LSXR intake and 1 7/8" headers.
Should I leave well enough alone or do I have room to mill? Is it worth it?
Oh yeah, 92-93 pump gas all the way.
