Default Speculation. TFS 235's or Ported LS7's???

I've tried searching and haven't really came up with a lot. I'm kicking around the idea of building a 416/18 starting the first of the year and am curious about what heads to go with. It will be a ls3 based stroker and I'm planning on going with a FAST 102 combo. I would really, really like to see 600 rwhp out of this combo through an auto, an FLT 4L60 to be exact. I'm not worried about driveability, i have faith in my tuner to do his best to tame the cam it will take to try and get those numbers.

Do you guys think a ported set of LS7 heads will get me there with that intake set up and the right cam, or is it going take TFS 235's or even the 245's?

Or am I just wishful thinking I can get 600+ through an auto?

Discuss.

Bore is also to small for tfs 245's. I'd go with the 235's. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'd be very suprised if you hit 600 rw through an auto.

Those cubic inches + an automatic = less than 600rwhp. it would take one radical setup to hit that mark. I'm almost done with my 454 with TFS245's, a M6, and a 9" with 4.11's and i'll be impressed if i clear 600 by very much.

Thanks guys, looking for all the input I can. After having time to search today, i've decided to go with 235's, now to find someone to work them over once the ball is rolling. I know its a very tall order, we'll see how close I can get.

you might be able to get a little closer with a solid roller cam and a victor junior set up..but 600 is a tall order..good luck!!

I had the same question when I was building my LS7 based 427. I never had a good answer but it seemed like most were leaning towards the TFS 235s because of the higher torque. To be honest I still don't know the right answer. Seems like many on the forum act like getting 600 rwhp is easy with a 6 speed. To me that doesn't seem to be the case. My only dyno for the original tune wasn't even close, 534 in 95+ degree heat. I think my car would be higher now, how much is any ones guess. I've seen a lot of higher hp cars on the forum (per dynos) where track numbers don't seem to support the numbers. But then there seems to be a few cars that run amazingly well.

With the temps in the 50s, I've run a best of 10.70 at 132.74 (1.66 60') with a race weight of 3600-3650 and running stock front tires (street car setup). Seems like the corvettes run better at the same hp level.

From what I can tell, the LS7 setups are dynoing higher (mostly vettes) but I haven't seen enough track times to know if they run better.

TFS 235's from TEA will work, Victor Sr intake and Accufabe 4150/4500 TB.

There is a local guy with 245's on a 408 and solid roller made about 640 to the tires through TH400 and 9". Tall order-yes impossible-No.

Agreed. The Super Victor coupled with TFS 235s and a top mounted Accufab would make over 600 rwhp when cammed correctly. A solid roller cam (with hydraulic or solid lifters) would really help, especially with a split LSA (narrower LSA for the short intake runner cylinders, wider LSA for the longer runners).
