Here are some really cool lifter guides Billy Briggs made to replace the plastic ones:

Do those lifter retainers work with a link bar setup or are you not using one?

I am just running the standard non-link bar lifter.

If it is a billet they did not even start billet production until end of January. I have an interim plan to get this motor together until Callies is done. I am going to use a Lunati Pro Series for the initial build. They had the crank on hand and ready to go. I really want this thing on the dyno and tested before it goes in the car!

That would have been nice to know back in November. When they quoted us 10-12 weeks I figured 14-16. Maybe they meant it would take 10-12 weeks for them to start making it and then the end of January makes sense... Doesn't matter I guess since I'm still waiting for a block from Dart. Good luck with your build and seen the pictures of the car you are building in the Drag Racing section. Looks like a killer!

Callies quoted us 9 weeks to make a 9-bolt ZR1 Magnum Crank back in the summer. It ended up taking about 16-17 weeks. This seems to be the norm.

I was looking at Erics at Callies just before Christmas with 5 others roughed in with center weights. Don't think any of them are done yet.....

Sorry to cause any confusion but I am sure they have various run times for the billet stuff. MY order was with a batch that was not running until late Jan so no implication to the status of Eric's stuff should have been implied. Either way, I have a temp countermeasure and when it does finally show up I know it will be bad ***. Brooke has always delivered a top notch product in my experience so I will patiently await.

So progress can continue I decided to go with a 4.250 stroke Lunati Pro Series crank. I have 2.100 pins but only 6 counter weights. The crank has been micro polished as well. I have had great success with the 4in stroke stuff with over 9000rpm so I am confident I should fine. I fully understand the bending deflection across the center causes measurable losses, so many builders are using eight-counterweight cranks. From an overall engine design perspective, the LSX relocation of the thrust bearing from the rear main to the center main definitely helps reduce center-main bending deflection and will allow us to get away with alot more than a standard SBC. When the billet center balance with 8 counter weights Callies is done I will inspect the Lunati and swap if necessary. This decision has also sacrificed some displacement so I will start with a 454ci now.

Rods are next! Should get them next week. I will share the details soon.

Thanks,

Tom

What intake is that? Did you have to modify it to make it fit?
