Thats a different way to get a 465.
Keeping the bore smallish for cyl. wall strength?
What does one of those cranks cost roughly?

Just leaving some room to grow and I do not know how much the crank cost yet. Brooke from Callies has not sent me the bill yet. Generally I order first and later when I get the bill.

That is an absolute monster you are putting together. Do you plan on using another pair of ET / PIS canted valve heads or are you going to hold out for some of the other castings coming out soon?

Tom
I am going to guess $2200 as my rough estimate.

I like Carries LSX DR heads of coarse and I like the new GMPP DR heads too. I guess it is a matter of whose castings are available first.

I am sure it will be in the 3k range.

I guess if this was a N20 or Blower car it would not be an option but since it is a Turbo we opted to use the steel rods to take advantage of the extra clearance. I ran Dyer rods in the last combo for 3 years flawlessly and it is still running strong in its fourth year today. Hopefully all will work good again!

I know you had a Callies crank in your old motor and you are putting one in this build. Why didn't you use a Bryant crank or something else like I see in other high horsepower builds? Is it just personal preference or is there something with the Callies that puts them ahead of other cranks.

I actually have a bryant but it is a 4in stroke and the reason I got that one is because at the time Callies did not have center balance LS crank yet and I was going to use the short deck block but now that they started making them and I am switching to a larger stroke I decided to go back to Callies. Their customer service and quality has been excellent for the 6 years I have been using them. No point in messing with a good thing!
