Whats your budget? AFR and Trickflow are going to be your top of the line off the shelf heads and the PRC stuff will be best bang for your buck.

FWIW you are asking a question about a generation III engine in the generation IV section.

Most guys don't know that Cary who designed ETP heads is back in business as Performance Induction. Just google it. They are an 11* head an every bit as good as anything mentioned...

For a 450 hp goal I would just go with the Texas Speed stuff.

An aftermarket like PI, AFR, TFS or the PRC proprietary casting can all do it pretty easily with the RIGHT SUPPORTING mods. For everybody who tries it on a OEM casting one makes it and 3-4 fail from what I have seen.....

A simple setup is TSP stage 2 5.3 heads,228 Cam and FAST intake. If you want a different head we run TEA/TFS 215cc heads.

No way you will see 450 with TSP 5.3's and a 228. Not even close on a stock bottom. I have seen a couple with valve relief pistons so a big mill would fit and MS4 cam do it but it is not common. Those heads are just not good enough

Something like a TFS milled for the right compression with an upper 230's cam like a VRx5 and a ported fast will do it though.....

That sure is ALOT of money to hit 450. It doesnt take name brand parts to hit normal goals.

Mine made 445 with heads about like TSP 5.3 heads and a 232 cam. This is with stock pulley, water pump, and a BBK intake.

With a FAST, pulley, and elec water pump i dont see why a 228R cam cant hit 450.
