I wish I could. The LS7 rod is a little hard to get ahold of. I will try, but I cannot promise on that one. They are made by a different company and are a little hard to get ahold of.

Back on topic.

LSA rod. The rod itself weighs 696 with bolts included. Has tapered small end with the bushing of course. The bushing has the oil grooves in both sides as well. Very beefy I must say.

Rod length is 6.098 like normal. Big end numbers are the same as the reg LS and the small end is a .945 pin. In the middle of the rod, it measures .605" wide. The beam between is tapered, so i cannot get a good measurement there unless you want an average.

PICS!!!!

Notice on the bushing there is a notch on one side and not the other. Interesting.

As you can tell, these photos are not the most professional, but it gets the job done. I now have pics of the LS9 rod VS the LS7 rod.

The strange part is, this particular LS7 rod weighs (with bolts installed) 466g, so that is more than the LS9 rod. The LS9 rod is a tad shorter though. All that undercutting on the small end and the bushing for nothing I guess. Ha. Also the LS9 rod has a full round bushing with no oil grooves. Strange. Also found some more casting numbers on the sides of both rods.

Props to Joseph for getting me this LS7 rod just in time for the photoshoot!

Is there anyone else that wants any more info? I think I basically covered it all, but hard to say. If anyone has any more questions, post them up. Just trying to see if there is any renewed interest.

Not only does the LS9 have the 9 bolt and the LSA have the 8 bolt, but ALSO the LSX 454 GM engine uses an 8 bolt flange also. TCI now has flexplates for them as well as the stock GM ones for the 8 bolt. The LSA engine in 09 in the Caddy came with an optional auto trans or manual, so that option is open.

Also both crate engines from GMPP come with the Flywheels and clutches already on the engine in the crate. So its really a killer deal. They do not come with accy drive like pictured in the GMPP pics though, which does upset some people. But they do now offer the accy drive kits separate for them, so it makes it more cost effective.

In comparison between the 2, the LSA runs about 15K and we normally have 1 on hand, and the LS9 runs 23k and we are normally sold out. They are both sold in the same trim style, and really I think the LSA is the better deal of the 2. Both have the same GMPP warranty as well.

Awsome read! Now I understand that the lsx 376 pistons are coming available. Are they not the same as the LSA pistons but just forged. I also understand that pretty quick the flat top 376 lsx piston will be available and that should fit the ls3. Any information on that?

Yes, a bushed LS2 rod can be used. The LSA rod uses the .945 pin so make sure it a large pin rod.

Being a professional industrial diesl mechanic, it is impressive to see how similar these pisto/rod assemblies are to diesel engines.

The pin mounting, the oiling holes, etc ate almost identical to the diesel engines.
Of couurse I have never seen a titanium rod in a diesel, as a piece of 10 pound iron usually suffices as a diesel's connecting rod.
