Default Which one 416 or 427 with a l92 block?

I have an l92 long block and plan on stroking it out to over 400 cubes. What I want to know is there an advantage of having the extra cubes? I plan on getting my rotating assembly from Texas Speed and difference in the 2 is that the crank has a little extra stroke to it. Instead of 4.00 it is 4.10. I plan on hitting it with a healthy dose of nitrous so will that little bit of extra stroke cause any problems because I have heard of crank flex when you go over 4.00 stroke on a crank. The price difference is very little so money is not the issue. Let me hear it guys, good and bad on both.

No offense here, But this topic has been beaten to death. You will have opinions on both sides, Half are going to say stick with a 4" stroke other half will say "Their is no replacement for displacement." I personally went with the 427 LS3/L92. I read all the opinions and talked to a few builders and came up with my own opinion. I personally went with the 427 so i'd already have the 4.1" crank for further upgrades. Maybe I'll put darton sleeves in and make mine a 440 somewhere down the road. Either way this is one of those deals where you have to take everything in and make your own decision.

When going to the extra stroke, crank flex will not be your problem on the heavy nitrous shot. You really don't have alot of piston to play with. You have to have the piston be perfect or you will collapse the ring lands.

FWIW, I have never even heard of crank flex on anything remotely resembling a street engine, and by that I mean under 1500 hp.

You can do the 427, but I would suggest using a custom piston, not a shelf piston.

What do you classify as a "healthy dose"??

I plan on hitting it with a 300 shot on a dp setup. Will I have any issues with the 4.1 stroke pulling the piston down in the bore further?

FWIW: I am personally not a big fan of the 4.10 stroke with stock sleeves. There is little support for the piston at BDC. If you're looking for some longevity out of the motor, stick with the 4.00 inch stoke. (IMHO)

You can fix that with a longer rod. But then you are eating up your piston space.

It can be done, but like I said. It has to be perfect more or less.

I know a guy that is doing it now, he designed everything about the motor, and it is working fine. I looked at the pistons in it the other day and they look good so far.

Done many of both and the 427 LS3 deal we do is NA only but works fine. The 416 though is much cheaper and stronger for any power adders and can be done in no time since there is no waiting on any custom parts.

I was looking at the callies compstar crank and rods with the wiseco pistons. With the bearings and it balanced it came to a little over 2300. I checked on a few other companies and Texas-speed came out to the best price.

Erik can chime in here in what will have to be done to the block.
