2007 L92 Escalade no DOD?
This is a junk yard motor I am working on. Just need to confirm the Escalades did not have DOD.
On memory, the valley cover did have the "maze" on the inside.
Anyway to determine/confirm no DOD without pullling intake and valley cover off?
Thank you!

You can see the maze with the intake still installed. Maze=DOD

For what it's worth, all '07 Escalades were non-DOD. If your's has the maze, it must not have come from an Escalade. Believe it or not, some salvage operators are not completely honest.

maybe you can help with my VVT oil pump issue... Whats going to happen if I run a VVT oil pump from a NON DOD L92 in the motor after installing a conventional cam?

I've owned one and tuned several. Don't have AFM. They have VVT, but they do not have DOD/AFM. Sure they have a table for AFM, but if you check it out, you will see it's turned off.

Computer turn off DOD
So does a maze = DOD absolutely? I read various opinions both ways. Some indicated DOD equipment was present but not activated because the sound was awful and some trucks could not accommodate a muffler to silence it.
Also, any way to simply turn it off on the computer?
Lastly, I have read that simply putting a smooth valley cover on fixes the problem. Theory being, you may have high oil pressure (30% more) from the specific DOD oil pump, but without the maze valley cover the additional pressure will not seal/engage the DOD and shut the cylinders down. I would love to hear if this is true.

Dod/afm
Actually, the 2007 L92 engines had a first and second design. The first design had AFM and the second design, for whatever reason, did NOT have AFM. If this particular engine has the "waffle" cover it is a first design engine and would have AFM. You will need to use the "second" design valley cover(smooth) with the "o-rings" to seal the oil passages in the valley. You will also need to change the 8 AFM lifters and 2 lifter guides for 8 NON-AFM lifters pt#17121490 and 2 NON-AFM lifter guides pt#12595365. You can use the same timing components except for the cam gear(actuator on VVT models) which would need to be changed to a pt#12576407(3 bolt gear). You will also need to swap the VVT front cover for the LS2/LS3 front cover pt#12600325. You will also need to change the oil pump if you take the AFM and VVT off this engine. The stock L92 AFM/DOD oil pump is NOT a viable option. The LS6 oil pump pt#12586665 is the pump we use in this application. The AFM/DOD can be turned off using HP Tuners, EFI live, etc. I hope this helps!

Confused
Still seems to be some serious disagreement here.
I want to keep VVT for what its worth, but NOT the DOD. The place I bought it from swears its from an Escalade.

Yes so it will have VVT and shouldnt have DOD so your set. Run the VVT and get a VVT friendly cam and go. Thats what Im doing also

Thread update
OK, I feel pretty stupid here but when I took off the valley cover it has a maze UNDER it, eg the backside.
The maze everyone is referring to in on TOP of the valley cover. Also, the guy I bought the motor from clued me in. There is a big black wiring harness plug on the firewall side of the valley plate for the DOD sensors. Its independent from the plug for the oil pressure. No sensor no DOD. No maze on top = no DOD.
Thanks again for all your help. Did I mention I was a newbie?
