Default AFR 225 vs. ported L92 Heads

I need opinions!
I currently have stock L92 heads and am building a boosted 408. The motor might not have boost on it for a couple of years so I was looking to get the most out of my 408 N/A setup for now. (will be spraying 150-200 shot until boost arrives!)

I am looking into either having these L92 ported by TEA or buying a set of used AFR 225 heads. I know the AFR are the best bet for the boost and nitrous, but they will be down on flow compared to the L92's. Or should I run the stock L92 for now.

Thanks

If you already own the L92 heads and looking to make 800 rwhp or less, just run them as is.

I personally wouldnt reinvest the money into AFR's if you already own heads that will work fine for your boost/power goals.

We've seen huge power numbers on stock L92's, you normally run into pushing water/lifting the heads before you hit a limitation with flow on the heads.

if you're going AFR, maybe check out the AFR 245s. They claim intake flow numbers just below LS7 heads, and exhaust flow numbers a lot stronger than LS7 heads. Gives you flow AND thicker decks

I've got a 402 and still need heads for it. I'm debating P&P'd AFR 205's, 215's or L92's. All would work for me, but as far as peak flow numbers, it depends where the curve will be. And do the AFR's outflow the L92's side by side? Or are AFR's the all out best because of combustion chamber design?

Sorry for the

AFR actually recomended these heads over the 225's for my setup and I am considering them. Now I am trying to justify spending $2600 on heads when maybe the L92's could work for my power goals of 1000 FWHP.

I had stock ported ls1 heads from a top sponsor and they made great power. I spent the 2+k on afr heads and gained 40hp. there is more then just flow numbers to a head. The afr and trick flow heads do cost, but you get a head that has a thicker deck and way better flow velocity over any stock ported head. i would go with an aftermarket head if you heve the money. I have l92 heads right now and i wish i would of just bought the trick flo 235's. remember you get what you pay for.

yea, its hard justifying hits to the wallet, but IMO its easier to run 1000whp with a head that flows so much, meaning less boost/nitrous, and more reliability/less heat because of it. Personally i wouldnt run an OEM head over 800whp, but its all in the individual's perspective..
