I'm still here . . . My knee has been giving me fits, but feels like it is finally starting to improve . . .

Here is something simple we just ran on a 418ci with ported LS3 heads and LS3 intake
228/240 114+4. Car idle's with very little lope and good vacuum.(45kpa) has a flat torque curve and peaks at 6300rpm but the torque carries good in the high rpm area. The car makes 530hp/495tq through a A4.

Another car was a Z06 (different heads of course) that we went with bumping up to 12-1 comp and ran a 215/228 on 112+2. Had more vacuum than the stock LS7 cam and completely,if not better drivability than stock.Made 530hp/520tq with peak hp at 6000rpm and made 80ft/lbs more torque than the stock LS7 at 3000rpm.

There are many options out there.

Being laid up with my knee over the past few days, I have been doing a lot of reading and thinking . . .

I am strongly considering going with an LSX 454 crate motor and swapping out the "stock" cam for the type of custom cam we have been discussing here. It would have some really good benefits over going "piece by piece" . . .

(1) No block machining, balancing, assembly, or prep work needed.

(2) Comes with 6-bolt LSX-LS7 heads, including Titanium intake valves and Sodium-filled exhaust valves.

(3) All forged internals, certainly strong enough for the 6000 - 6500 RPM max. I want.

(4) Includes all covers, bolts, gaskets, etc.

Basically, All I would need to add would be:

(1) Swap Cam for custom with "stealth" characteristics.

(2) Swap out Stamped Rockers for Comp Cams Ultra-Pro Magnum LS7 Rockers.

(3) F.A.S.T 102 mm intake & Throttle-Body.

(4) F-Body Oil Pan, etc

(5) 8-Bolt Flexplate (LSX crank uses 8 bolts )

Bore is 4.185" & Stroke is 4.125" with an 11.1 static CR, I think . . .

All thoughts on this are welcome and appreciated !

I know it's an old thread but what was the end result of this build? I'm thinking of doing ls3 heads on my ls7.

If you have some time, check out the thread in my sig. Tons and tons of good info and a little humor along the way.

Good luck!
