TSP 402 First startup - another No tach
After a year of getting this build together I was finally able to get to starting the car last night for a few minutes before the neighbors started calling
Started right up, oil pressure looks good but no tach.
After searching it looks to be one or more of a few things:
I only post this as I don't see many issues of tach problems since 2008. I'm wondering if there is something else I might have missed.
1) CAM sensor harness pin-out. Although I am little surprised that we would still need to do this 4+ years after this LS1/LS2 swap was introduced. But this is probably the easiest to check.
2) Bad Cam sensor. Hope not. It's new.
3) Wrong cam sprocket. I'll have to call TSP to see which part number comes with their LS1/LS2 swap kit
4) Ground. I'm pretty sure I got them all and are tight. I'll have to double check.
5) Bad extension.
I'm going to start with #1 and #4 tonight when I get in from work and go from there.
It started right up at first, but I turned it off after <10 minutes and it became hard to start and would not idle.
Sounds like all the common symptoms of cam position sensor issues.
DTCs pulled:
[PCM] P0122 - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (History) (Immature)

[PCM] P0405 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (SES) (Pending) (Old) (History) (Current) (Immature)
[PCM] P0412 - Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Relay Control Circuit Bank 1 (Old) (Current) (Immature)

Swap those two cam sensor wires first (A & C). That's always the first thing on the list to check!

Yep, swapped A and C and I have a tach now! Whoohoo!
Hot starting is still a little issue and it has trouble falling back to idle, but I'm sure it's all tuning related. I still only have my old HPP tuning in place. Now that it runs I can start working on the tuning.

Glad to hear the fix was that easy! Get that tune dialed in and have some fun!
