another ls2 question

Default another ls2 question

hello, I'm still trying to get this thing figured out. The guy I got the motor from said it had a comp cam in it 228/228 / 550 thats all he told me and I remember him saying something about stealth cam. Well it don't sound cammed so Does comp cam make stealth cams and what is a stealth cam? I couldn't find any from comp. But I wanted a lopey idle and mines just a steady blah which was a bit dissapointing when I finally got it back.

a 228/228 cam with a high lob seperation could almost sound like it doesnt have anything in it. if you really want to find out if it really has a cam go get it dynoed. If not just go buy the cam you really want

well he told me it dynoed 380 rwhp in the gto with a t-56 which is same as mine

I'd buy a cam you want and swap it then, if the motor isn't in a car yet, then, that is too easy. I have Vengeance's VRX5 in my LS2, and it definitely isn't tame.

+1 on the dyno. And ya, the VXR5 is serious. stock heads Unertl?

TFS 220 heads, FAST intake, getting the intake ported when I get home from this deployment. Hopefully I can get to 500, and some how my 10 bolt will last at least 6 months

it's got a fully ported ls6 intake. and he says he had like 2 grand in the heads, and the are 243's so I don't know whats up with them. But me and this guy aren't on speaking terms cause he turned out to be an *^#@%@%$& so I can't ask him. How big can I go with the cam with out doin any work on the headss or pistons other than changing the springs .

What are your goals for this engine? Do you daily drive it, is it a drag car? Do you want the biggest cam without changing valve springs? The "biggest" cam isn't usually the best choice for what you want.

Its my everyday car, I 'm happy with the power its got now, its one of the quicker cars around here. I just want a really lopey cam... I love that sound lol. I can change the valve springs if neccessary I just don't what to have to change nothing else. Someoone told me vengence was good, but Which one would be good for me?

Ok so is all I have to do to get the vrx5 cam in there the pushrods and valve springs? nothing else with the heads or anything. And I have a bad lifter are the ls7 lifters a pretty good replacement?

pull the cam and check for numbers on the cam.he probably bullshited you about what he did to the motor ,you mite be able to sue him in small claims court.pull the heads and flow them,or have a good local ls head porter look at them . talk to vengeance racing directly about the cam you need ,matching you set up to the cam .a stock cam in a ls2 makes 365 rwhp.don't throw a lot of money at it ,do alot of research and asking questions..success take time.

I'm pretty sure he did screw me. and the court thing..... well I don't have anything that proves he even touched it cause he dropped it off at my house while me and my wife were at a movie. O well he didn't get paid and he isn't going to. all he got was my stock ls1. but he did an awful job on it all and started cussing me telling me to stop b****ing and that was last time I heard anything so he can just shove it. So I'm probly going to try and sell my truck and use that money for the camaro. But I really wanted a nice lopey beastly sounding car but I think I pretty much got a stock ls2. Some peoples kids.....

There is no way in hell that an LS2 with an ls6 intake, ported 243s, and a cam (even if it's baby cam) puts down 380rwhp. Sounds like he is screwing with you.

If you do get a bigger cam check the chamber cc's on the heads so you can tell if they are milled. It would suck to assume they are stock cc only to find they have been milled when you drop a big cam in there and then have PTV issues.....
