If you are going to try to make 1000 hp then most likely you are gonna have to go forced induction whether it be turbo or supercharger. It can be done on nitrous but it will take a good bit of spray to get there. I am assuming you are talking about crank hp here.
If this is your goal on the FI route I would suggest you talk to a reputable engine builder such as HKE, Virginia Speed, or KUP. They can spec and build the long block you would need to get to your goal. They have all built motors in 1000+ hp range many times over.
For your forced induction needs I would recommend a call to Josh at KYTP so a turbo and a kit can be selected to meet the hp goals or if you plan on going the supercharger route talk to Bob@Brutespeed he is our Procharger sponsor. Good luck with the build and I hope I have pointed you in the right direction somewhat.

Plain and simple. Lots of cubes, and at least 15LBS, with high compression. Still may require Nitrous, and a sweet shot of Meth. You might not be able to rap it that tight... Like 6000 is about it to be safe.
I forgot who but a company in Texas built a 1050 HP Camaro with a 427 and a Magnacharger and Nitrous.

Im planning to go with a turbo. I would like to get this car streetable but not daily driven. just on special occasions Not a track car or track machine. Im trying to make this feasible and save myself money and get some ideas from ppl who have reached this but maybe learn from what they couldve done different to save themselves money or parts they should've gone with. Just a thought if the 408 was possible. Im leaning towards just saving it up for a LSX block like a 440cid. I dont wanna be constantly changin my setup and goals all the time over the years. I just want to make it final this time around. I say screw it lets go with 1000hp. I want to get the big parts first then the small things like my turbo setup and engine. I have a N/A setup with a stock block now which im enjoying for the time being but its time to go big.

realistically, single 88mm (whether it be garrett or precision) should make 1000hp combined with 370-400ci LS engine.
Our 390 engine would be a good option, small changes with stroke leaves a thicker/stronger piston and crankshaft,
you can read more about it here.

Sure, use some Callies crank/rods and Wiseco, JE or Diamond pistons.
We better be talking about FI or some serious nitrous.
Making that power on a 440 does not seem to be a problem
