Default lsx376 to a 427 stroker build, clearance question

i'm building a 427 stroker motor from a lsx 376, i'm going with the eagle 4.1" crank and the eagle 6.2" rods with wiseco 4.070" pistons, my question is does anyone know off the top of their head if the rods will hit the skirt of the pistons, and if running factory gasket thickness will the pistons hit the valves, i want to say the piston is going to come out of the deck like .015"

Interesting build - why did you not elect to bore to 4.125 and use 4 inch stroke like LS7? LSX block will easily accomodate this bore. Valve to piston clearance will be dictated by cam duration and reliefs cut into pistons..

because we're trying to get away without having to bore the block, don't trust anyone in the area to do it...plus we want to go with the longer rod....i'm not set on the cam yet, this is the part number to the piston kit K451X7

I put a 4.100" crank with 4.070" bore Wiseco pistons in a stock 6.0L block, you might have to do a tiny bit of clearancing, but nothing crazy.

I currently have a 4.250" crank in a LS7 block, very little clearancing on that as well.

If I were you, I would send the block out, get it bored, and buy the pistons you need. You're leaving a lot of power on the table by limiting your bore.

Curious what was the reason you are upgrading to the 427. I understand the quest for more power. However there seams to be a lack of info, on the gmpp 376 (thats what im after). Also the reason I didnt use it and went with a 402. +1 with brian tooley

we're doing the stroker motor(which is a 429 now), because i'm in a high performance class and we are building it for a camaro, we have 6 lsx376 motors.....the older 376's have 70cc heads, the 2010's have 68cc heads, we used 68cc stock heads and an asa cam with 2cc relief pistons that we had and made 526hp with 460ft. lb torque....of course those numbers arent the same at the tire.

im guess that is a NA number. Is that stock compression? high than I thought if it is. How much boost are you running on your 376's?

Yeah those are the NA numbers on a straight up lsx376 with a cam and 2cc reliefs at 11.5:1 CR on race gas. Hopefully we will be boosting them soon, we are just waiting on the turbo stuff to come in. The big stroker motor I'm working on will most likely have a procharger on it once it's in the camaro. We are building a destroked lsx too, with the 4.8L crankshaft we are going to turn it up and boost the hell out of it.

Pilcher Racing in Enterprise AL. did my iron 6.0L 427 short block. 4.07" bore and 4.100" crank, 6.125" rods. While I was there I saw 7 Donovan Big Blocks in different stages of rebuild 632"-7xx". They know how to do the LS motors also.
