You can order the blocks finish bored for that price and they don't need much work.

Thumbs up

Not to be a wet blanket but wouldn't it be cheapier to build an LS7 427 or 440?

Would like to see what a N/A 479 CID LS engine will do.

Initially yes, but over a longer period of time in a road race environment I'm betting no.

What would be the cost of such a short block or a long block with matching heads, WCCH, TSP or PI, fully assembled.

cheers
Contact VA Speed. I'm sure Shawn will put together a killer RHS based long block well setup for road courses. It's probably going to be a little more than $4,500 though. Budget 17-20k for a complete build.

The LSX tall deck package will "go" into anything that an LS engine came out of. The problem would be all the other parts fitting. As well as the likely hood that you will have to space the cradle down. And cut quite a few parts etc. I guess the question you should ask is, is the HP per $$$ worth it? Honestly a very nice 454 would work.

As far as road racing, there are plenty of guys that do it with 402+ in a standard deck in both iron and alum all day with no problems.

Sometimes shooting for the moon will land you with problems. Alot of them have not been specifically addressed because the tall decks are relatively expensive and new.

Good luck on whatever you do. I am sure if you want an LSX block or even an RHS, we can build one to suite as well.

We have one going on the dyno soon. 475ci.

You Could use 4.250" crank, 6.560" rod, 1.050-.060 CH piston

Having the piston in the hole .010" not a bad idea on large bore builds.
Why such a long rod and a short CH for your suggestion of the 4.250 crank build. Would this be optimum or would it be better to have a shorter rod and a CH of 1.1xx?
