Default LSX 479ci??

Any feedfack on the scoggin dicky's LSX 479 motor? Would like to know whether it will drop into a C6Z with all accessories without any problems.

I would look for an aluminum block big cube combo in a c6z. But that's just my opinion. You can go up to 470ci in standard deck sleeved aluminum ls block.

Its a tall deck block so it isnt going to be just a straight drop in like swapping to another stock engine.

RHS seems to get all the votes here. I believe MTI used that one to get 500 CI. Anyone have data on that motor? Interested in going to 500 CI but dont know if my accessories will bolt right up or not. Also, would i need a different set of headers?
What would be the cost of such a short block or a long block with matching heads, WCCH, TSP or PI, fully assembled.

cheers

I'm in the process of building a RHS tall deck to drop into a C6 Z06. The header fit is a good question. I sent an email off to LG to get their thoughts but got no response. The RHS guys who were at PRI said the motor would fit in a C6 Z so we'll see. I believe the tall deck RHS was modeled off of the Katech built 500 cube Dart billet motor that was shoehorned into the Pratt Miller C6RS. I had a standard deck RHS block in there before and other than slight modifications to the AC and PS brackets and relocating the cam sensor it went right in.

As far as the cost of a short block or long block, I think the block alone retails for about $5K.

I'm probably going with a 4.25" stroke (nothing crazy since this is for a road race motor) and in the process of trying to spec out rods. Rod size will most likely be around 6.4" and I am not having much luck in finding any reasonably priced quality rod. Any suggestions would be welcome.

IMO spend the extra money on the intake setup and stick with 427 the parts will be way cheaper and you can buy some nice Mozez or AllPro LSX heads and ITB's

I read somewhere that Callies has a 6.5" rod for long stroke LS motors... Might help?

We've built LS7 RHS tall deck, Callies 4.500" crank, Compstar 6.440" rod, Wiseco Piston. 488ci

Eagle has a 4.375" crank, 1.888" honda rod journal, 6.460" rod, 1.110" CH piston, nice setup for a strictly N/A engine.

We have one going on the dyno soon. 475ci.

You Could use 4.250" crank, 6.560" rod, 1.050-.060 CH piston

Having the piston in the hole .010" not a bad idea on large bore builds.
