4032 or 2618 for a 450c.i. N/A setup
I will be needing a 4.165 slug and I was thinking of going with a 4032 piston for its light weight and durability, but I might be running a little 200 shot on the setup so I'm not sure if it is a good idea.
And as for the brand, who would you suggest: Cosworth, Omega, Arias, Diamond, Ross, etc.
IIRC JE, Wiseco are from the same manufacture Dover and CP is a Mahle make... right?

What about piston choice: Cosworth, Arias, Omega, Wiseco, etc?

I would not recommend 4032 for a power adder, seen plenty of them shatter like glass. Infact main component to 4032 aluminum is silicone (glass).
2618 piston will take some detonation and still run fine.
Some pro stock teams have tried 4032, but any front runner uses 2618.

Losing power in 5-7K Miles! Whoever said that is also pobably someone interested in selling some 4032 pistons I would imagine. I sell them as well and they are harder and wear longer overall but the difference is not anything crazy.
I have seen some of the Wiseco 2618 stuff at 60K miles and it doesn't look bad at all. Same with Diamonds and some JEs we have run. I have 155K on some 2618 Manleys in my Mustang and I still had no problems with 6 straight years of autocrossing and open track use.
Now 200K use the 4032 is probably going to show less ring land wear for sure but it will also break in any of the more radical stuff that is usually done around this site.
I have seen tons of cracked Mahle powerpak 4032 pistons as well as the SRP 4032 and Pro-Tru 4032 stuff. and that's even on NA stuff with a lil detonation from bad gas or tuning. With power adders it can get ugly.
In short I would say don't worry too much about having your performance go away from a 2618 piston when 100 other things will crap out first like valvetrain etc.

I do have some lower power level stuff where I have run some nice 4032 stuff (JE's SRP) though and they did look and run awesome after being torn down much much later in life. The harder silicon alloy does wear longer but again it's also more crack prone so that's the rub. Just don't run 4032 on anything crazy at all and you will be fine. There's a reason none of the piston makers make their best stuff in 4032 for the most part.

You know... You are one of THE most respected builders and out of all the shops I talked to on here and here in Florida, you have given me the best price out of them all, only problem is the shipping would kill me, lol... ehhh...
