Default Maximum RPM from a 08 5.3 liter

I have a 2008 model 5.3 from the junkyard i paid 400$ for, it runs hard on the big end with a patriot cam(225/229@.050,582/589 lift,114LSA), i put fresh 317s on it as it will be getting the turbo treatment in the future, but right now all motor,m i spin 7000, it does make power till 4250 and start pulling, but i shift at 7000 not feeling the car nose over, how much can the GEN IVs take for RPM? I have seen the older GEN III take a **** above 7000, then you have guys like me spinning my stock long block 2001 6.0 to 7200 all day.

I think 7500 is where ti wants to go, but dont want to destroy the perfectly good low mile short block and possible **** up the fresh heads, i am using comp 918s as well, so i am wondering what you guys think it will handle, bastard sounds great at 7000 and i will at least wind it to 7200 the next time i up the rev limiter, but it just really feels it needs more.

Once you pass 7K on hydraulic lifters you tread into the darkness and take your chances. Gen4 bottom ends are a good step better than gen3 bottom ends so worry not there. They have better rods and bolts and windage. Why dont you try 7500 and report how it goes?

Hell, i never head of issues with the stock roller lifters to 7700 most of the time, i hear of failure every now and then, the 6.0 sees 7200 every time it is fired up.

Looking for someone that has experience winding these up, otherwise, 7300 will probably be the setting on the hi rev.
