Timing chain for LS2?

Timing chain for LS2?

Hey all,

In the next couple weeks I'll be doing a H/C swap on my LS2.

As far as I understand, my current (stock) timing chain is a three bolt system, and the cam I'm getting is also 3 bolt. So what do I need? Just a new LS2 chain? An upgraded/stronger one? Also, what's the difference between the double roller/single roller?

Get the C5R timing chain from Katech and not worry about clearance issues using the double rollers ( two rows of timing chain). Just my .02

Is it just the bare chain? They don't show a pic.

Yup just a chain. You can reuse your current sprockets or you can get new ones. You'll need a puller for the lower sprocket though.

Unless your car has a lot of miles...why change what is not broke?

A ton of things I've read/heard suggest changing it while in there to do the cam. And this car is getting a supercharger in the future so I'd rather be proactive than reactive.

Do you have any other info that might sway my decision? How much HP is the stock LS2 chain rated for?

Get a melling or a better than stock flowing oil pump and new lifters while your at it. That's just me, if I'm going in, I'm going to upgrade. Do it once do it right.
