how would you build a LS427 for turbo and 1500 hp?

reliably or just for dyno bragging rights?

Keep it under 1200hp and the cost is probably 1/3 of what it takes to reliably make 1500. 4 bolt style heads production block vs. aftermarket or resleeved/6bolt style heads.

You can make 1000rwhp reliably with a production block, stock LS1 crank, production ported heads, and stock LS6/LS2/LS3 intake and forged $500 rods/$800 pistons. Beyond 1000rwhp is where it seems to be that one needs the bad *** blocks/6 bolt style heads, super pricey machining, forged/billet cranks, costly rods, etc.

So what would the budget be..... and that would determine your direction.

Well while never plan to run mine much past 800rwhp with possibly a dyno bragging session at 1000rwhp think my hardware is up to the task you were asking about.

ERL superdeck 427 9.5 to 1 with AFR 225 for now can go up to 6 bolt if need to later they set up my block for six bolt too.
Yella terra 1.7 had 1.8 but don't need the lift anymore. Cam wanted something mild and super streetable so went with ls9 cam. Just ls7 lifters think they will be fine was running them no problem with my 408 for last few years.
Running callies dragonslayer, manely pro rods,wiseco pistons,gfx rings.
arp main studs, rod bolts and head studs. Felpro gaskets. Fluidampr balancer.
Fast 90 /90 for now might upgrade to new fast 102/102 tb sooner or later.

This may be true, but I would NOT recommend it. And I am not just saying that because we produce racing crankshafts. 1. 4340 will greatly reduce the stress on your thrust bearing. 2. 4340 will not flex like nodular iron. most importantly, if the crank goes...its taking lots of friends with it.

Hehe, with a big enough turbo, you can do it on a stock motor! Once..... No I'm kidding, Callies is telling you right, although I recommend for big power applications run Lunati Link bar Sustained High RPM lifters along with a Custom ground cam from Pat G,that way you'll have some variability for boost versus power in tour application. Also I'm not sure how they fair but I think Mast has great heads for handling turbo applications. And for rods? Olliver.

I'm actually doing this build right now. I'm over my eyeballs in it.

ERL 427- modified ls3 for 6 bolt heads, ^Adam's crank & rods, undecided heads (ditching trickflow 245s for thicker deck), solid roller, o-ringed. Posting thread on heads now.

x2, a top quality 4340 crank will definitely work 100% better than a factory material. Center counter weights definitely make the crank stronger and less prone to whipping like a jump rope at high RPMs.

Key/Pin/Register/main gridle the bottom end depending on which block you choose. At a bare mininum Key/pin the mains.

Just a heads up on the erl 6 bolt. You pretty much have to go to link bar lifters as the ls7 don't work well with ls2 trays.
I went with lunati link bar lifters.
