Have been reading this thread due to similar issues of no pressure and would like insight on the filter below the oil pressure sensor. Once pulling the sensor, how do you see/remove the filter?

Also, and equally as important, what is a DoD motor? Thanks for the help!

only thing i can think of is the oil barbell plug at the back of the oil galley behind the rear cover.
is this the oil restrictor?
Has anyone found out the issue here I am having the exact same issue?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is with a mechanical gauge. Then checked oil pressure at the sending unit with a mechanical gauge and found oil pressure @ 20psi cold but when it idles for 15 to 20 minutes it will drop to about 0-6psi. The mechanical gauge will show close to 0 sometimes. U can drive it and it will hold around 20psi but if it idles it close to 0. When checking pressure @ the filter it would never drop below 15psi. Why is there a drop between the filter and the sending unit?? Removed the oil pan and found nothing blocking the pickup tube. The truck has some oil pressure but not very much. Could cam bearings cause this?? (Yes, it is full of oil.)
Has anyone came to a solution to this problem I am having the same issue and any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Would help to know year of engine, size and what is done to it?

Main causes for low oil pressure is oil pump pickup tube o-ring failing, oil pump pressure relief failing, and worst case scenario is bearings.

In DOD engines, the oil pan releif can fail and constantly shoot oil at piston number 8. AFM/DOD lifters can fail, AFM/DOD solenoids can leak, Screen under Oil Pressure Sendor gets clogged.

Need more info to help determine possible problem. Have you checked with a proper mechanical gauge? Any ticking/tapping/knocking noises?

the screen we took out did nothing for the oil pressure

Atsma is right, regardless of terminology. When their last post was that long ago, you can pretty much be certain they are no longer active on the forum.....

I THINK this is along the same line of question.. I have a recently rebuilt (engine builder) 4.8 gen IV (2013) stock rebuild, I am getting around 9psi at idle, gets better w/ rpm. I know this is not right, looking for issues, suggestions or help to make pressure right? I did do the "trick" of jacking the rear of the truck up (get oil to front) and adding a quart and then turn on and see if pressure is better. it only raised the pressure a lbs or so. any suggestions? I will check with mech gauge in a day or so to verify my Dakota Digital Dash is reading correctly.
thanks!!

First thing to do here is verify pressure with a manual gauge. You can get the correct fittings online, and install a temporary manual gauge just to check.
