How much wear and tear on that monster clutch and flywheel? Stock feel? If you are going to replace it and it is in good shape I may be interested.

I would say 85% life left. I'm going a 402 build. Already bought diamond -10cc 4.005 bore pistons, Callie's 4in crank. I'm slowly putting it together but surely it's moving Along... Just need to decide which Rods I want to use.. Found a local machine shop for some work I want done. Local forum members say I should let the machine shop put the short block together. How could I learn about building engines If I don't take a wack at it? Seems like basic wrenching to me.

Haven't you learned your lesson yet ? lol

Buy a broken lawnmower if you want to learn about building engines... or take a course at a local tech school.
It would probably save you thousands of dollars.

Too bad you are not local to me... as you seem like a good guy just trying to learn. (the hard way)
I've helped alot of guys just like you over the years. The stubborn persistence and motivation is something only found in guys your age. The older guys like me already learned those tough lessons and it pains us to see guys like our "younger" selves going through it all over again.

My old man built a few nasty cars.. He's going to be looking over my shoulder while I do it. Blue printing the block is just common sense.. Taking notes as you go. Make sure all clearances are fine. I'm having my ol man install rings...that's something I know I would goof. Then torque down. Set timing. Short block is done. Sounds a lot easier than done I'm sure.. But those few hundred dollars I save doing this is allowing me to buy an actual boost controller. I have built dirt bike engines through out my teenage years.. So I have the basic knowledge or it. Hell tear down it looks a lot less complex than a dirt bike engine.

Quick update gents... I had some well appreciated funds come in... So i bought a 403 built for boost.. instead of building this engine (Massive sell thread). Now I gave her a strong heart.. time to give a bigger set of nutz and a wider foot print

My advice to you would be to raise the compression on the motor before even running it. 8.6:1 is just dumb. Mill the heads 5-6cc at least which gets you to around 9.0:1 which is still unnecessarily low.

Yea I'm still scratching my head why he built the CPR so low.. It looks like a dynamic CPR number. Isn't most -32cc builds 9:5:1 and this build has smaller cc heads than the builds I been looking at so the static CPR should be higher

No that is the static comp ratio of 8.6:1. You'd need the cam card to figure dcr.

I'm sticking with 93 octane and meth. I'm ordering Id1000's. I should be receiving the rest of my parts in tommorow... eboost2,lingenfilter LC, alcky meth, super vic intake, custom 102mm intake pipe mated with a nw102, hinson short motor mounts, hinson aluminum billet couplers.. Eastcoast supercharging never sent me tracking info on the mantic 9000 clutch but it should be no later than saturday. Hopefully tx2k13 ready!

So a quick update with the build! I dropped the engine in the car and started reading the linginfilter box that converts 58x to 24x.. I bought it thinking this 24x engine would work in my 06 c6.. I was reading the instructions and found out I was *** backwards! So I pulled the engine, took the crank out, shipped it back to callies to swap the gear out. I also installed new mains bearing's even though the mains was up to par.

here's the engine as of now

So you come on my build thread talking trash? Way to fail? Local forum is more rice than a racing forum.. Seriously more guys with near stock cars nut swinging Cars like the GTR, I'm still on it just can't post, not banned. Only thing I got from that site is a few races scheduled, But your race my friend will be interesting and I don't wanna hear any excuses.. You can run as big of a shot you want, any roll/dig your choice your hit. Don't get me wrong, there is a few cool guys with some modded cars but the majority rules that out so I careless about it.

Our race? Im not an idiot unlike yourself, I am not racing you. I know when a car is out of my league...Would it really make you feel that good about yourself beating up on a stock bottom end ls2 with h/c and a 150 shot?

Oh he is... He is the laughing stock of the car community in columbus/Ohio and no one has even met him yet...He is even going to have to do some traveling to get his car tuned due to his mouth. He blamed his motor blowing up on the tuner that tunes at both major shops in columbus which was in no way his fault and has talked **** to everyone north and south of columbus that has anything to do with the reputable shops either direction.

Like a high school kid.. Did you get our point across? Would it hurt your feelings if that same tuner will be tuning the car again?

FYI, you can still post and have been.

My "ricer" site contains some of the fastest cars in America and in Ohio. Just because you get butt hurt at some people doesn't mean everyone is to blame. You need to grow a thicker skin, really.
