Default Good option? L76 w/ 243/247 .621/.612 114+3?

Looking at buying a used cam from a member.

Picking up a L76 sat and will be removing VVT and AFM. (May add VVT back later) So L92 heads which I may have the exhaust ports ported a bit since I hear thats where they could use some help.

Cam is 243/247, .621/.612, 114+3 LSA

Good option?

I've just been reading info about duration for l92 heads on stock stroke 6L/6.2L motors.

Also I will run a TH400 behind it for now.

From my endless reading I'd say more split with less duration on the intake side.

That cam is way to big, you will have to flycut almost indefinetley. ls3 heads like a lot less intake duration, a wide split, and tight lsa

Being auto (th400) should I go for something like a 230/230?

Perhaps a 224/230 114+3 for good overall power. 228/235 113+3 for more focus mid to top end.

Instead of using an off the shelf ground cam, why not have someone like Pat G spec you a cam based on your build and goals? Best $25 ever spent

I will for my final setup...

For now I will keep my eyes pealed for a used one. The one I originally mentioned is$230 shipped. Seems about the range I've spent in the past.

To big. I run a smaller cam in my 418 l92. I used to run a cam a little bigger than that and the driveability sucked. Went to a smaller grind and picked up power and driveability.

Save yourself the trouble bud and just call Comp tell them what heads, intake, rear end and gear, weight and your goals and they'll hook you up. Just my .2

Don't cheap out on the cam. And rectangle ports are very picky with cam selection. 25 dollars to pat g and 400 shipped for the cam from eps is worth the money.

We have several camshafts that have been proven in similar applications. Although, if you are still interested in going with a custom grind, we can spec you one out for $389.99.

comp is a joke. They have no idea about cam specs for these heads. Comp likes to overcam the l92/ls3 combo's. Saw an article awhile back where comp spec'd some 25x/26x cam on a 408 with ls3 heads. Made like 580 or so flywheel hp if i recall. I made more with way less overlap. Need to keep the air speed up with the huge rectangular ports.

Quick Reply: Good option? L76 w/ 243/247 .621/.612 114+3?
