Default ls3 oil pumps

whats is the oil pump of choice for the ls3 engine? i would.'t mind getting a high volume melling pump, but ive been told by a few people that the melling pumps dont fit very well behind the timing cover and might require some clearancing of the pump or cover and id rather not have to go throught that.

Default Melling...

High volume, high pressure..I believe they now have corrected that problem, but is no big deal, it just require some simple grinding, so as to clear the timing chain in one corner, bottom right.

I've read that the stock LS3 pump flows more oil ( due to the DOD ) and is cheap from GM. No clearancing required. You could even shim up the press relief just a bit for more press.

Ooop's I did not specify LS3 > L99 .... my bad

I am using the LS4 oil pump. It's a high pressure pump OEM pump from GM. I know guys that use this pump it 1,000+rwhp cars. Hopefully, I can be another to add to the list.

Got a blueprinted/ported ls3 pump in mine. Took some clearancing to work with the double roller chain, but all is well now

I believe you are wrong and the L99's oil pumps are the ones that have higher volume and pressure pumps.

The DOD pumps are the high volume units.

Call and talk with the guys at scoggin dickey, they have done their homework and then some with all the OE GM pumps.
