AES also sells a 3.825 inch stroke for 4.03 bore which is 390 cid, but with a +.060 is 396 cid.
Are there any negatives to running a 4.1 or even 4.125 stroker crankshaft?
If a 413(4.005x4.005x4.1) or 427(4.060x4.060x4.125) makes more TQ/HP than a 383 LS1 or 402 LS2/LQ4/LQ9 than why I build/ or buy a smaller engine?

Please refrain from telling people to learn what they are talking about before correcting someone when you yourself cannot do the same. It also does not solve anything. You could've just said a simple 'no that's wrong' to his comment...but you had to take it a step further didn't you?

Redtan, I agree more cubes is better for the same money. Obviously, his question as why you don't see them is answered, but he obviously has an interest in building a 396 for some reason or another, so I'm trying to help him get that and not steering him away from it like you Are.
Very well put!
4.020 pistons are shelf items and plenty of vendors can get them, they just don't stock them for reasons you already stated.
If he truly wants a 396, he can have it for the same price as a 408, 383...etc. but I'm not going to sit here and bash his ideas, I'm going to help him. That is what ls1tech is all about and over The last 5 years, it has strayed far from that.

Just to contribute to a 3.5 year old thread, using a 4" crank to build a 402 and then calling it a 396 is much more historically accurate than you may think.
