Busted lifter, trashed cam....Need opinions!
I had a lifter/s take a **** on me, trashed the cam....
So now I'm face with a dilemma, do I get a new cam (same specs) or go a little bigger?
The car made awesome power for being a bolton, cam car, and with a little custom grind cam. Not that dyno numbers are everything, but its one of the highest bolton/cam ls2's I've seen, and whether it came from the cam or I just have a strong motor I don't know.
Anyway, here's the dyno sheet....450/414, on 91... at Cunningham Motorsports (Murietta, CA)
Also made 458/415 on a mustang at Craven Performance (St Peters, MO)
-Svede
-FAST 102
-Cam
-UDP
-LT's, 3" Catless, Super 40's

I'd say if you've been perfectly happy with you current cam I'd keep the new cam specs about the same, maybe go with lobes with different ramp rates, slight increase/decrease in duration and/or lsa if you feel these slight changes will get you closer to perfection. Otherwise don't change a thing!

Ok so here's my parts list so far
So here's I've got going....feel free to point out anything I should add or change.
ARP Hex Head Bolt Kit - $109.99
GM LS2/L92/LS3/L99 Cylinder Head Gaskets - $73.98
GM LSX Harmonic Balancer Bolt - $4.99
GM LS7 Lifters - $139.99
Texas Speed Ported LS6 Oil Pump w/ New O-ring - $195.98
New cam (same specs) - $355
Debating on these-
Katech C5-R Timing Chain (LSx) - $149.99
SLP Timing Chain, 2005 LS2 Double-Roller - $139.95
GM LS7 Lifters - $139.99
Lunati Street Linkbars - $375.86
-"Designed for engines with a maximum RPM operating range of 6200 - 6500" I run mine to 7000...any input on these being more/less reliable than the LS7's because of the extra RPMs?
Valve Springs....
Currently running Patriot Extreme .660 lift springs.
30k on them. They're off the heads and everything looks perfectly normal. Any reason to be looking at getting new ones?
And as far as the rockers go..stock with 96k on them. Normal wear, but everything checks out. I was going to get the comp trunion upgrade and just change them out. Any reason to order a whole new set of rockers with the upgrade?
Pushrods are hardened 7.400's. I'll be double checking the needed length and ordering new ones if need be.

S10 - Dont have it out yet. But I'm going to pull the pan and check for metal etc... Also will be pulling the caps and checking out the bearings while I'm there. Trying not to pull the motor and tear it down (if it doesnt HAVE to be done) because I'll end up spending a ton of money building something ridiculous.
Blackonblack - that was the first thing I though about, but i checked them with a borescope and they look fine.
Martin-230/232 .613/.603 112+2

I would replace the springs, I have just the springs for $129 shipped.

valve float causes this... roller hammers the cam lobe. Doesnt matter what lifters you run. If you dont have correct spring setup this will happen everytime.Run more pressure then you need.
