Default 5.3 crank swap question 12552216

I recently picked up a 07 5.3, so far the seller has lied about everything about it. Thats another entire thread...

My question here goes out to guys knowledgeable about swapping cranks. The crank is messed up as result of someone removing the #1 rod cap and then installing it backwards. Needless to say the crank (and 2 rods) are junk.

I want to know which cranks if any will go back into this (07) 5.3 engine? I am building this project to do some "stock" shortblock racing, so I can't go aftermarket or even do a rebalance nor do I want the cost. So I need a drop in.

I believe all the lsx cranks are the same and should swap out no problem so long as the reluctor wheel is the same.

Thanks. I have searched a few past threads here, and It appears that many engines use the 12552216 casting but some people are saying that the balance will be different.

i cant say for sure, a stock crank shouldnt be hard to come by either way just make sure the reluctor is the same. 1997-2005.5 uses a 24 tooth (wth a few exceptions) and 2006+ went to 58 tooth

Since I am starting from scratch with this, can I just use a crank with 24T ? What would be different?

The balance will be different unless you use a 5.3 crank. If you already have the pcm for the 58X motor, you're better off using a 58X crank. Lingenfelter makes an adapter, but that's just more electronics to worry about.
