Oil pump "too big"?
Hey guys. Need some help. I've had a 6.2 conversion done in my 06 TBSS.
The front cam gear needed to be swapped to a 1x for my E40 computer (and we did a 24x crank reluctor swap too). I supplied my engine shop with an LS2/3 front cover which they elected not to use, stating that the L92 oil pump was "too big" and the cover wouldn't fit. They reused the VVT L92 cover instead and now I have a P0340 cam sensor code which I've searched and read is because of the air gap between the sensor and the cam gear.
Ive done some research, and any of the 5.3/6.0/6.2 with either AFM or VVT, or both, use the 12612289 pump. The 5.3s and G8 L76 have AFM but not VVT, and they use the 12600325/6 non-VVT front cover, and everything fits fine.
Truck is being towed back to them today to get this sorted out and I need to get them the "right parts".
Can anyone confirm that there's a GM oil pump that the LS2 front cover wouldn't fit over?
Or concur with my hypothesis that the shop was unnecessarily trying to fit the LS2 cover back over the cam phaser, and that's why it "didn't fit"?
Here's a pic of the actual engine with oil pump if it helps:

That oil pump is designed for extra volume to operate the DOD system, I would replace it with a standard oil pump (assuming you deleted the dod).
When I deleted my dod, I ordered a new LS2 front cover because I was told the sensor spacing was different. I compared the new one to the original, and on mine the spacing was the same.

Confirmed that the oil pump that's on there is huge, I have no idea where it's from, definitely needs the VVT cover to fit over it.
Problem is, to change it and use the non-VVT cover, I need to pull the motor to get at the oil pump pickup bolts. Started a new thread for that, any input appreciated https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-question.html
And yes we're changing the chain tensioner.

If the pump comes out, I'll check for numbers on the back to identify, cause I haven't been able to find out what it could be. Its being replaced with 12612289 which is the AFM/VVT (either or both) high volume pump, and it's noticeabley smaller than the current pump.
