Not bad at all, I am very curious to see what your combination is going to put down bro.

Had a little time last night to get the valves in one of the heads. Then setup my checking springs to measure PTV clearence and to check push rod length.

Started checking bearing clearence on the mains and the rods. Mains look to be running around .0022-.0025. The one rod that I got done is about .0025. After checking deck height, the flat of the piston is about .007 in the hole, the dome is out about .022. I need the flat part of the pisotn about .006 out of the hole to get my compresion right. So I need to take about .013 off the deck. I am still going to check all 4 corners to be sure.

LOL...LS stuff around here is still pretty scarce not many people messing with it. The guy that bought it from me is getting a **** load of work out of me. I am pretty much installing it in his 89 IROC for him.

I paid $2030 for a ls2 complete with heads and oil pan with all the covers. Had 50K. New bearings and polished crank.
On ebay they run for 6000 and NONE of the sellers would sell me just the engine.
This will eventually become a 402/8

Say whats the difference between a stroker kit and ...well not a stroker

I thought about going this route for mine but didn't want to chance gettin a block that needed a lot of work before i could start putting a new rotating assembly in. The difference is 1 has a longer stroke than the other lol

Well to tell you the truth I do not have any clearance issues with my setup. The only thing that has been done to my block is a .005 hone. Line bore was checked and is good. The rod bolts in these Callies rods are moved down the side of the rod a little so they do not touch the bottom of the cylinders. I have a good 1/16th to 1/8th inch clearance. After I get pistons 7 and 8 installed without the rings and I get my deck height checked I will take it back apart and send it to the machine shop to have it decked.

Then I should be ready to put it together for good, now I need to get off my *** and go out to the garage and work on it...

I need to go out and drain the oil on my DD so I can change the oil pan gasket but i'm not motivating myseld to get off here lol

Well got a lot done yesterday, was in the garage all day! All my rod bearing clearances checked, all pistons installed on the rods, deck height checked/finished up, and I went ahead and installed the cam and checked piston to valve clearance to see where I was before having it decked.

I took a picture of my custom timing gear/harmonic balancer installer. I made it out of and old balancer bolt by cutting the head off then drilling and taping the end of the bolt to accept my balancer installer.

Rod bearing clearance on all rods is .0025
Mains are .0025
End play is .003
Intake PTV is .138
Exhaust PTV is .141

The block is being decked .016 on the right bank and .015 on the left bank. The decks are straight from front to back, but there was .001 difference from right to left bank. This will make the pistons .007 out of the hole on both sides to put my compression at 11.8. Dynamic will be 8.5.

Real engine builders use Play Doh!...LOL

Now its all back apart and the block is back at the machine shop.

Alright getting back on track, some of you may have seen the deck on my block all scratched up by a shitty Machine shop. I took the block to another shop that I have been using for years. I should have taken it to them in the first place. Live and learn. Anyway here is the block before and after.

The second shop had to take another .004 off the bad side, which ended being .002 off the other side to make the decks the same height. Which means the other shop had the bad side too high, so they didn't even get that right...

I also bought a set of King .001 bearings to tighten up my main bearing clearance by .0005. Hopefully taking it from .0025 to .002. After doing a lot of research and from others on the board telling me that is too loose on an aluminum block. By using a half of a STD bearing I already have and a half of the .001 bearings, it should close it up a little.

Looks much better. Nice build. My 402 is .0025 on the mains. I think thats a good number there.
