Default How good is the Holley Ram intake

I'm lookin at the Holley ram intake for the the ls7 heads and was wondering how good will it work with those heads. Will it chop flow like the FAST intake. Also does any one have any personal stories of how well they work?

I have one I'm setting up with dual fogger and single dominator.

Should be together shortly after I figure out which heads to go with.

I would assume with high enough rpm and the right cylinder head/cam it would do well.

I have volunteered my tunnel setup for a single dominator for Texas Speed to use testing their new 260cc ls3 heads.

Hopefully we can find out soon if they accept to offer for testing.

I'm lookin over Tony Mamo's 750hp 454 and wondering how much more hp it would make, because as he said you can't put that much torque down so it would be better to make more power up top. He's using a Mamofied Fast intake. Just think wat a Mamofied Holley Ram intake could do.

I just, well not just got off phone but talked to Wilson manifold while I was doing stone work. I thought I could get the holley intake and have it modified to work with heads I had in mine and cut runner's so it would fit under my hood and it ain't going to work. I have 2 choices Mast intake or fork over 35 to 45 hundred cause I would have to cut my hood with mast. I'm thing of taking a sheet metal class at the local community college or go to SAM and see if they could modify Holley intake when they are not busy and give them 12 to 1500 hundred.Wilson did a great job on the Modified Holley Ram air intake for the 2002 Camaro BlownZ on LSXtv. I'm going to figure out something without paying 4000 dollars for a intake.

VA Speed modified and lowered a holley hi ram intake for me recently. You can find a couple pics in my build thread.

Thanks, I had a 408 short block I got from a friend but I sold it and broke even. Now the heads and engine combo I have in mind won't clear stock hood, the holley would look great I just need the runner's to match the port design and to try and make the intake itself shorter by 4 inches. I went and got a 6.0 aluminum for 520 dollars at engine salvage yard I"ll get eagle crank and rods and send block to ERL to get dry sleeve stage 1 kit. The 6l90 trans is in the garage. I'm trying to get the engine on the money.

Just checked Email K tech just sent me this:You would have to CNC machine a billet flange to bolt to the cylinder head to weld the modified runners to. I can see this costing just as much if not more than a sheet metal intake for us to do it. I ain't mad I just need to either find new head combo or cut the hood.Point blank. If VA can do a deal, I"m fine with that cause those are the heads I really want.

Kurt, yes and no. I had VA Speed modify my Hi Ram to both fit on LS7X heads as well as Tall Deck LSX block then lower overall height by 2". I'm running dual 4500 Accufab TB's on top with a custom flat top lid.

Did the engine have a different intake first, or just the Holley? Did it work well?

Thanks, Va said to go get sheet metal intake as well, but you've got to try and save a buck. They all said it would be cheaper to do a sheet metal intake.Last step either cut hood or different heads, I really would like to get the mast inline heads but the intake is so damn tall, I like my flat upr22 hood. I may just cut the hood and do a boss 429 hood scoop with mast intake, that or it's down to ls7 heads with a Holley Ram or a FAST intake.

Kurt, I had been running an ls7 intake with RHS intake spacers on my tall deck LSX on boost. The high ram/sheetmetal thing is brand new. I had VA Speed rebuild my engine for NA/nitrous. So we're at 470ci, 8K rpm and roughly 900bhp on pump. Should have real world results and feedback soon.

We tried one on our 423... we lost power over a super vic... I think with a cam speced for the intake it may pick up some.. im thinking about selling it and looking for another super vic.
