If you really want a MAX effort cam for road race or drag race you need a Solid Roller not a Hyd roller. Having a Hyd verses a Solid if like bringing a knife to a gun fight you will be at a Big disadvantage.

I'm considering a new cam as well......currently running the Katech Torquer 110 (+0) with the matching spring/retainers, CHE kit on new OEM rockers, an unported FAST 102, .030 WCCH heads with new OEM exhaust valves-bronze guides, NW102, B&B 1 7/8 longtubes, X-pipe /no cats, 62# injectors, tuned for pump/E85/100 race fuel. When on E85, I have so much low end torque, it vaporizes any of my street tire combo's, including MPSC's. I'm giving thought to moving up to the Katech K501, as my current valve train is already Spintron validated for this cam, per Katech testing. I wonder if the BTR Stage 4 would be too much for the PSI-1511 beehives ?

My static compression is around 11.6 with the .030 mill, but it's the dynamic compression that really is key. I didn't want to go too far on the dynamic compression because I needed the ability to switch back to 91 pump gas when necassary.With my current 110 cam, the use of E85 is worth around 15 rwhp and 15 rwtq, 10-15 degrees cooler running, and 20+ % greater fuel consumption. If I was to run the Katech 501 or BTR Stage 4 cam, I think I'd be comfortable running up to a 12.0 static compression, as the dynamic compression would be lower due to the later IVC event and greater overlap.
Here's my dyno sheet with the best 91 pump gas pull and best E85 pull overlaid on one another.
Nothing like having well over 500 lbs/ft torque at 4K RPM from a N/A car that weighs under 3200 lbs, but it's a bitch keeping a tire on it.

It is a good thread to read. It also has a lot of post from folks that either don't understand the characteristic of an engine or just looking to brag about peak HP #. I agree there are cams out there that can squeeze every last HP out of an engine, but that comes at a cost. If you want to brag to your friends, go big and suffer the drivability issues and loss of low end torque. Or get a cam that enhances the entire RPM range for a fun car to drive. I went small on my cam with some common bolt-ons and makes 550RWHP. No complaints at all...Compared to my LS1 which was a slug down low and power at high RPM was like driving a ricer. Yeah, it made 470 to the tires at 6800, but it didn't get me out of the corners. That black mamba cam makes power, but I notice you suffer down low. I like driving my car on the street....7000rpms is nearly impossible on the street. I rather keep the low end.
