#1: Being a Tool & Diemaker for over 30 years (in 2010) at the time, I measure EVERYTHING that goes into my engines. The Caddy lifters, all 16, measured, 001" SMALLER on the O.D. (outside diameter) than the standard LS lifters that were already in my engine, and those lifters had 30,000 miles on them!!!!
#2: I called at least 6 of the top engine builders in the country at that time, Lingenfelters, Texas Speed, Golen, LME, I forget the rest of them, and asked what lifter preload they recommended. What I DO remember is I called 6 different places, and got 6 different answers!!! Sorry, they measured undersized compared to the stock ones, and I got the impression that either nobody knew what the Hell they were talking about, or it was a tighter kept secret than the location of the Holy Grail. So I went with LS7 lifters, and I've never had any problems. If you're not racing at higher than 6,300-6,400 rpm, the Caddy lifters will make no difference, except on your bank balance. Hope this helps....
