Default copo replacement engine build

hey, first off...i dont have one, just came across this article.

http://www.dragzine.com/news/katech-...lus-horsepower

reading through it, they're building a 327 whipple...says 4.065 bore on LSX block. but my question is regarding the bore and the heads. says they are running GMPP LS7-LSx heads. says 2.205 intake valves, and replaced the hollow stem exhaust valves with stainless....1.615 exhaust.

when i look up the LS7-lsx heads (6 bolt) says valve sizes are 2.200/1.610, and they also say minimum bore of 4.100.

http://www.chevyhardcore.com/feature...ylinder-heads/

im just trying to figure out how all this went together, and if maybe some numbers are skewed a little....to me...seems like they got the heads (for minimum 4.100 bore) then put in bigger valves...and threw them on a 4.065 bore.....something is off...either the bore isnt 4.065, valves arent that big...wrong minimum bore stated....idk...numbers dont add up.....i can see some small bore LS7's working....dont know what to think i guess....

They are LSX-LS7 heads and the bore is 4.065". We clearanced the bore to make them work. The valves are 2.200/1.610". It looks like the author took the numbers from the COPO rules which allow for .005" oversize.

so...basically what your getting at is the LSX-LS7 heads minimum bore is 4.065? not 4.100?

No, it's still 4.100". We just modified the block to make them work.

ok cool, can you post up any information/ pics on this? i imagine its valve reliefs into the block, what do you do for a head gasket and such??? does this pose any problems??? (kinda thinking not, beings it cranked 1100+hp..)

Yes, valve reliefs in the liner. It's very minimal and does not affect the head gasket.

The throttle body is oval - 172mm wide. The article didn't specify that.
