So I'm thinking of running the power cable up to a bulkhead connector on the inside of the fire wall, that will have a stud on the outside of the fire wall allowing me to connect wires that need constant power to either the inside of the fire wall, or the exterior of the fire wall...any opinions on that?

I have done that before when I wired my mustang.

Was convenient

Ok cool...I think it will clean up the wiring under the hood a whole bunch...I think the wiring on this car is going to be a bit of a headache. Not the engine harness, but getting the chassis harness clean and hidden the way I want it...

Damn it has been a while since I posted...Haven't gotten much done due to not having time to get home, and not having the spare $ to buy the parts I need to get stuff done...

I should be able to get the battery relocation done, and possibly finish up trans cooler plumbing over thanksgiving break.

I would also like to get the coil packs mounted somewhere...I am thinking about having them attached to a bracket that will be bolted onto the back of the head...if it will work they should appear to be floating above the last header primary tube on each size...

I will try to keep the updates coming as I make more progress...

Looking for some knowledgeable opinions....Debating on what to do for the exhaust...I was going to run a 3.5" X-pipe, cutouts, and mufflers, but I have discovered that Spintech offers oval piping. The reason this interests me is due to the fact that it should tuck nicely up to the floor pan and give me more clearance.
So my options are:
3.5" oval pipe---CS area=7.85in^2
4" oval pipe---CS area=9.989in^2
3.5" round pipe---CS area=9.621in^2

Keep in mind my collectors are 3.5".

Second question is where should the cutouts be installed? Before or after the X?

Wicked HP and unbelievable torque. Seriously I can't wrap my head around how insane that number is. I imagine that will be a blast to drive.

Oval pipe is insanely cool and the prices have finally started to come south. The 3.5" oval is comparable to 3" circular, which if you read the posts by the 88' Monte Carlo (moderator) guy on this forum he thinks that's like the eye of a needle.

I have yet to decide as 427m showed some conflicting data on the 2" headers. I still think 2" primaries into 3.5" circular (or 4" oval) is a great option for a big 454ci like you've got and that intake is absolutely going to move some air.

Keep us posted.

P.S. Are you a MS State student? I know you said you were an engineering student somewhere back in the thread. Big football year down there.

His vote is for 4" oval, and he said to put the cut outs wherever they fit best...

I'm still open to thinking 3" round is plenty....several years ago we tapped and exhaust system on a mopar 440 with big heads making well over 600hp. less than 3psi back pressure between the collector and muffler and zero past the muffler. i'm actually thinking of stepping down to 2.5 after the muffler to give me extra room thru the 4 link but i'll probably measure back pressure to make sure i'm not leaving anything on the table....

I'm sure the 3.5" round would be fine, but I think I would lose some ground clearance. Main reason for going oval is to tuck the pipe up under the car. So I think my best bet is to go with the 4" oval...and as D9HP stated 4" oval is comparable to the 3.5" round pipe...

The price of the x-pipe kit isn't all that bad price wise...until you select the stainless steel option...

Turns out that the stainless and the aluminized steel x-pipe are the same weight, so I might just go with the aluminized steel....it is about a $550 difference in price so just for added corrosion resistance....With the amount that I will be driving this car I think I should be fine without going stainless...

Man so much hate for thinking about going with aluminized instead of the stainless...lol...why pay $550 extra just for a little added corrosion resistance...If it had saved me any weight what so ever I would definitely go stainless, but at this point I am not sure...

Go mild steel and have it ceramic coated.

Other than, it isn't SS, what's so bad about aluminized pipe. I had an aluminized X and it always looked and sounded good and didn't rust. It didn't have manderal bends but it was fine for what I had.
