The trans is the 30 spline T-56 (viper style) that comes on the early C6Z's with a RPS full carbon twin disk clutch.
The diff is the 9" Getrag IRS that comes from the factory - beefy.
Once you figure it out you will be able to degree a cam in your sleep.
What are the cam specs?

Stop buy the store on the way home. lol...
Whats your cam specs?
Only reason I could see doing it with the head on is if the cams are in the heads.
You are concerned about the cam events in relation to the piston not the valve events to the piston.

Just like taking a rocker ratio change and trying to determine the change in valve lift. It doesn't change to duration of the cam.

I'm just offering my two cents. Some people look at that kind of stuff, some don't, but in regards to a previous comment, that's why some of us will degree the cam with the head on.
I attempted to degree the cam with the heads on this weekend....I used a dial indicator extension and put it on the lifter, went through the process as described in the instructions and I came up with 109 ICL....obviously I am going to do it again, and take my time, and use the pushrod and rocker instead of just sending a dial indicator down to the lifter...but it was nice to see that I was only off by one degree initially...
