Yeah you need to center the inner ring of the oil pump on the crank...I got the Align-It tools from Sac City Corvettes, and they have a tool that aligns the oil pump properly...

It is a stock LS3/LS2 front cover....I got both pump and the front cover from Brian Tooley Racing...

looking good, can't wait to see your numbers....actually wondering who's going to be done first (you or me)... will you dyno it first or just wait to install it and do a chassis dyno?
congrats on the ME degree, finished mine about 18yrs ago...seems like a long time ago..

Thanks on the congrats...definitely glad those 4 years are done....I am doubting it will be dyno'd before everything is installed in the chassis...so it will probably just be a rear wheel hp number...

Congrats on the BSME - where are you doing grad school?

I'm an EE, myself.

Ok guys...I made it back home and took a little inventory of everything I have for the long block assembly...if you see that I need anything that isn't on the list please let me know. I do have a few questions also so I will list those after the parts inventory.

Short block (pre assembled)
-block
-rods
-pistons
-crank
-mains
-oil barbell thing

Heads (pre assembled)
-FRH heads
-valves
-springs+retainers
-ARP head studs

Valve train (excluding parts stated above)
-Rockers+bolts
-lifters
-cam
-cam retainer plate+bolts
-cam bolts
-Comp Hex-a-Just Timing set
-Timing chain dampener

Oil System
-oil pump
-oil pickup tube+o-ring
-oil pan+windage tray

Covers
-Front cover
-rear cover
-valley cover
-valve covers

Gaskets+Seals
-Head Gaskets
-front cover gasket
-rear cover gasket
-oil pan gasket
-valley cover gasket
-front main seal
-rear main seal

Sensors
-Cam
-Crank
-oil pressure
-2x knock
-Coolant
-Throttle position sensor
-MAP
-IAT

Things I know I need are pushrods, which I am going to measure once I get the heads on, then I can order a set. I also know I need a set of valve cover gaskets.

Now my questions:
1 What sort of assembly lube should I use for stuff like the cam when assembling the engine?
2 What oil should I soak the lifters in prior to installing them?
3 What is the proper procedure for measuring for pushrod length, (I have a comp pushrod length checker already)?

Do you have this book? Do you have this book?

I know it answers 1. and 2. but I am not sure on #3.

I am following along for the ride - looks like a great time. Take lots of pictures, please.

The cam is in the block, timing set is installed (still need to degree the cam), oil pump is bolted in, and lifters were installed prior to the heads being bolted down.....I got Chris to do a set of brodix ls7 heads...my static CR will be right at 12.02:1...I'm hoping to get the pushrod lengths done tonight, but I'm not sure I will get to it...
