Should be ordering the cam this afternoon...lifters should follow in the few weeks, maybe early may. We are hoping to get the engine assembled and fired by mid-late summer!

what cam did you spec out....curious what you spec'd versus mine....still looking to get a dyno run by the end of may.

It is closer to the second set of specs you have in your first post in your build thread....a little more lift on mine though...

After what has seemed like an eternity it is finally in my possession!!! So without any further bs, lets give it a look....











This one might be my favorite....love the look of the pistons...


Thanks to Josh at ERL!!!




Didn't get much else done besides spraying it down with WD-40 and putting it in a plastic bag....I'm hoping I will be able to order lifters shortly so we can get the long block assembled....I also have the cam in hand now, and my heads are supposed to be delivered today, but they are back home and I'm up at school now so it will be a few weeks before I get my hands on them...stay tuned...

I am on track to order lifters, head studs, oil pump, LS3 front cover, and the remaining gaskets I need later on this week, along with a Circle D torque converter, and the holley dominator set up....this thing is coming together allot faster than I thought it would. Also I got the heads delivered, but they are back home so it will be a little while before I can get my hands on them and post pictures...

Torque converter is currently being built, and lifters and pushrod length checker should be shipped tomorrow....the ecu and wiring harnesses should also be ordered some time soon.

What ECU and wiring are you going to run? I have been speaking with ERL about my block this week actually and it looks like I may back off to a 454ci motor, as well.

Really enjoying watching yours come together.

I am going to use the Holley Dominator ECU and their wiring harnesses. It should give me all the tuning flexibility that I will need to get everything dialed in.

I think the 454 is the way to go....not so much to where your rpm is limited, but you still have all the positives of a big cube ls engine...Thanks for keeping up with the thread man...If there is anything you want to know or are curious about feel free to ask!

Two questions - I read or saw somewhere that the oil pump has to be shimmed during installation...are you going to do that?

Is that a GM Performance front cover? Where did you order that from?
