Eh... we all have our specialty, I'm really comfortable with the long runner OEM/Fast intake setups, not so much with setups using a ITB intake...

Katech struggling to make 700 hp with a 454 using the same ITB setup was enough to scare me off...

If I had more time I would be more willing to spend hours on PipeMax figuring it out, but I barely have enough time to take a poop...

Well it was a pretty easy...just followed the pictures in the instructions...The weird thing is that the kit came with 64 bearings instead of 32.....I counted my rocker arms 3 times trying to figure out why I had so many bearings...its like they thought I was building a 4v motor lol

Pressing out the stock nonsense...

The devil bearings themselves.....

Pressing in bearing number 1

Put in the trunnion and pressing in the second bearing...

Then I had a set of trunnion upgraded rockers that I had to put snap rings on....and then wait until I have a set of heads to install them in...

Called Chris over at Frankenstein today and we got a plan together. We are going to go with the brodix castings, with copper valve seats, ported and milled for compression, Ti intake valves, and Stainless steel exhaust valves....Should be about 4-6 weeks out so it should match up with about the same time the short block is getting to me....I'm beyond pumped to get these heads rolling!!

Why the choice on the seat material?

The copper are softer so there will be less wear and tear on the valves seeing as they are Ti intake valves...or something like that...Chris Frank explained it to me but I am blanking on the details...Basically it will make for a more reliable street driven head, so I don't have to worry as much about maintenance.

And lil...I looked at that before...I just can't run a hydroboost setup due to using the billet specialties tru track PS pump

Copper alloy seats are too soft for street mileage in my opinion.

I would run ductile iron seats and have the titanium valves coated. There's a reason GM did this with their heads...

So the copper alloy seats will wear out sooner? I was under the impression that they will absorb some of the impact of the valves...

Ok so even if I were to only put between 1-3k miles on it per year....copper still not a great idea? What about copper with coated Ti valves?

Made the decision to go with steel valve seats and coated Ti valves...The reason I was going to go with the copper seats at first was because Chris had them in stock....But thanks to Brian and Chris, I am much more edumacated in the ways of valve seats...

On a side note I will be ordering a timing set soon.... Is this a good choice? Also it says that chain is available separately...is this just meaning that incase it needs to be replaced it is available, or does it mean that I would have to buy the chain separately?

The chain is included, but it can be bought separately if you ever need a replacement.
