Ls9 cam swap into 5.3 with afm and vvt delete running very lean
Anyone do this swap themselves? Is it possible to have the cam timing way off if the dots still line up? I'm trying to tune a truck that someone else did the work on and I don't think something is right. It's wanting about 60% more fuel at idle and isn't responding to any changes. He had to change the cam gear and said the dowel on the cam was about 180 degrees from where the old cam (which was a stock vvt cam with phaser) was. I'm starting to think the cam timing is just was way off. Any input is greatly appreciated.

He had to swap to the non vvt cam gear and said it was dot to dot. But the dowel was in a different spot. If that even makes sense. It actually runs and idles pretty smoothly. But it's extremely lean. This cam isn't that different and should at least run ok without tuning.
