I wish! I was on Vegas all week (up $300 baby!), but I did get to drive it last night. It has about 140 miles on it. I need to get over 300 miles on it, then we can get the final dyno! I'm also gathering a few little things I need before the hitting the dyno as well. I needed a new bigger CAI, so I'm picking up a C6Z Halltech setup, along w/ an LS7 MAF.

Back in 2011 my LS1 let go and I plans to go to TX2K11 a month later. Well Futral Motorsports put a rush on everything and the day I was scheduled to leave is when I picked it up and drove it straight to Houston from their shop. Arrived and drive it some more that night then changed the oil in the morning.

I was beating on it shortly after and it got faster every night. Back then it was a odd situation but now everyone is doing builds and having them delivered or done right before.

Anyway figured I'd share my story looking forward to seeing what this beast can do.

I hear ya, it's not only the break in of the motor, but the clutch also. It won't be long and it'll be laying down #'s. Speaking of, what additions have you added to the Detoxx machine? I see your selling the LS9R, so I'm assuming its due to power level increase. Is Tx2K in for a Atomic Orange surprise?

Yeah the clutch is very important. Don't focus on the miles for it but more of the heat cycles and easy shifting.

I'm selling mine because I upgraded to a Mantic 9000 and planning a build summer/fall if everything's right. Going to Houston with a minor tweak other than the clutch so I'll stay on the D team

D team ha! You can do some work! Yes, the clutch is feeling better with each drive. At first drive it already felt better than my old LS7 clutch. Lighter pedal feel and more bite. Really like everything together.

How much power do u think this setup will make? I bet it feels like a badass lol. Is there anything u would. Change or do differently to add to the performance?

It'll put down 570+ (and I'm hoping for 600) at the wheels. It does feel real strong! There's a ton of throttle response; you press the throttle and there's more; then you press it more and there's still more throttle. Would there be anythinid change; well, I need larger headers, which I will get within the next year. The exhaust ports are huge on my heads. Frankenstien literally ported them to the point that there's no more "D" in the exhaust port. It's completely round now. Also, not that my cam is small (235/251), but I might have gone bigger. It runs like a scolded dog and feels really mild. I think the 12:1 compression along w/ the cubes has been extremely helpful in soaking up the 15* of overlap in this cam. It is much more mild mannered than my old little 230/230 LS6 cam that had 6* of overlap.

Regardless, it's extremely fun to drive right now!

What size headers do ya got now? And as long as it makes great overall power should be fun and perfect. I wonder myself if my cam is to big lol. Guess we'll see. Mine should be done end of april. Maybe I can stop through dfw on my way home and we can video a race check out each others rides. Vettes are always nice. Especially finding one that built. And close to same build. Should be interesting lol

I have 1 3/4" headers currently. I kick myself all the time for not buying 1 7/8"! As for cams, I really was expecting more of a handful to deal with, but it's great w/ the high compression and cubes.

What size cam are you going with?

Where is yours being built?

And let me know when you're headed through. I'd gladly meet up with you to check out each other's ride.

It's A Brian tooley specd cam. 24x/26x duration. And being built at kp racing in Houston. I'm using 2" kooks true duels 3" with cutouts hope makes good power. And will definitely hit ya up on my way through. If not busy could come hangout when I get my car tuned on dyno and such

KP racing is right by my companies Houston location! If I'm by there before it's finished up, I'll swing by and check out the build. Yeah, after driving it the first time, and talking with My builder afterwards, he too said a 24X/26X would be a nice compliment to my heads and the cubes. If I get bored with it after a year or 2, going up to a bigger cam would be the next move.

Where's the home town? Also, let me know when the finishing touches are being done. If I can I'd love to see it dyno!

Awesome build! I'm looking to drop an ERL LS3 dry sleeved short block in my 99 T/A down the road. Kinda looking at the 454.

How much do you think this build has costed you so far?

I bet you will see a pretty big gain from the 1 3/4 headers to the 2 inch! Can't wait to see the official numbers!

Over 20k. There's a bunch of small things that add up fast. Katech valve covers and relo kit, painted intake, rebuilt alternator, LS9X clutch, master cylinder, new A/C condenser, recharge the. A/C system, and on and on. It wasn't all motor related, but I while investing this much in the motor, I wanted to get everything right so I can drive it w/o something else crapping out on me. Motor alone was over 15k.
