Just put L92 heads and an L76 intake on my 2005 GTO. The cam is stock, (saving for a cam to swap in the spring) Anyways, I had them milled, got a valve job, reinstalled everything carefully according to spec. when I fired it up for the first time it ran very smoothly. The only issue is that now i have this fairly loud ticking coming from under the passenger side valve cover. It sounds like two marbles are clacking together. It does it at idle and through the rpm range when driving. It quiets down some in higher gears. The only time I can't hear it is when im shifting gears. Like i said the car has no driveability issues at all. Could this be a bad lifter? Valve? Everything seemed to be operating fine under the valve cover. Any input on this would be great. Thanks guys!

Did you check for proper PR length? Although you ran the stock cam, did you check to V2P? How much did you have the heads milled?

These engines sound a bit more "ticky" once headers are installed. It did not mention in the thread if you had a set of not. This is most likely a valve train issue. Re-verify your push-rod length inspect the rockers thoroughly even the new eight ones you bought to do the swap. Then look at the lifters and camshaft. If the push rods happen to be the incorrect length you may wish to reevaluate the stock cam as you will most likely require a different length again when you do buy a camshaft and lifters. Did you put on a set of stock l92's? or do these have some "hootie" valve springs on them?

Hey guys, the heads were milled .020. Piston to valve clearance is okay. However, i should check the pushrod length. I did just reuse the stock 7.400" ones. When using the stock cam I never even thought to check the length.

IF YOU NEVER had them milled, then you could of **TRIED** the stock pushrods. Rookie mistake. Fix it before you ruin something.
