Ive never run solid rollers, just because of the nightmares Ive heard and seen from others running them in heavy street use with a lot of idle time and low RPM cruising. They are without a doubt the way to go from max HP setups. Maybe they have improved over the years. I sure hope so. Maybe the LS platform has better idle RPM oiling than the SBC and BBC. I would run the ceramic solid rollers without hesitation, but they are out of the price range of the average, hobby gear head. Then again, an engine built to spin to 8K reliably and often is out of the average guys price range too.
My whole purpose for making noise on the OPs thread was to warn him of the extra labor and possible pitfalls of running solid rollers on the street, especially with the RPMs a hydr roller can spin to these days.
Someone educate me on how the LS engines can run the solids without issue compared to the other engines in the GM stable. Im always happy to learn something new. I think its a waste of time to get out of bed in the morning if you don't.

The biggest deal here is that a solid liftwer is not required to achive well over 500hp and turn over 7500 RPM. A good set or morel short travels will handle a lot of lobe and RPM. I would not go solid ever in my street driven LS. Shoot our in house engine has .750 lift and will turb 8,500 on..... wait for it..... Hydro lifters and.......stock LS7 Rockers.

Our dynos read a lot lower than your dynos.
I dyno'd at 440rwhp and ran 124mph with 4100lb.

Looks like Cam motion has a neat low lash solid roller in trial atm?

I don't mind either or hydro or solid, i take it the maintenance will be similar, just want what's most reliable at the upper end of the rev range for a stock bottom end ls3.

If 5206 morels will reliably do it then I'll use them, but if a solid will gain more power and won't have many drawbacks as kip from cam notion has stated from his. Then what's to lose?

What have you got in that car to get to 4,100lbs?

Our Monaro weighs in at 3,880lbs with AP brakes, stereo and 70kg of sound deadening.

It's only 1860kg on a weighbridge, it's a fully optioned senator mate, coulsen seats, sunroof, 6 piston brakes etc. My vt weighed more.
