Default Looking for a cam for my 2011 Tahoe

Hey all!!! I have been trying to research for the best cam for what I want... I have intake/LT Headers/Exhaust/Tune. I am going to port and polish my stock (799) heads and get a stall... So I am wondering what cam would be best for me... I want a more torquey cam that is more down low to help move my heavy A$$ Tahoe. I am going to delete to DOD/AFM when I install the cam. Compcam suggested a 214/224 .500/.500 115lsa cam but I was looking and found anther compcam 219/235 .607/.621 113°. This one started lower in the rpm range and ended at the same as the first one...

But Iʻm open to all suggestions!!! Thoughts? Thanks all!!!

That is a wide duration split. They have a LSr cam with 219/227 112.

I you don't mind more aggressive cam lobes the go with the CompCams 54-455-11 (215/223 112lsa+5, Lift .604"/.610" ).

For something more valvetrain friendly(214/222 112lsa+4, lift.595"/.566") I'd go with Comp Cams custom grind with: 214 LXL lobe #13155, and 222 Xtreme RPM (high lift) lobe #3714.

Cam Motion can also grind you a similar custom cam, except with softer cam lobe ramp rates, and even longer valvetrain life.

Thanks for your help 99Bluz28!!! But Iʻm pretty sure that my cam is the single bolt and this is a three bolt... Iʻm a nooby when it comes all this but what I do know is that my engine in my Tahoe is the (LMG) 5.3L. So I have to make sure that the cam will work in my Tahoe... But thanks for the help!!!

it all depends on truck purpose, as you mentioned more end low torque, what converter rpm will be installed? only daily drive? if so i would go with compcams suggestion.

It is my DD and a converter will be installed (still trying to figure out which one) however I want my 0-60 and 60-100 to be mean... Also want a choppy sound too... The second comp cam I mentioned is #146-456-11

you don't want to use that 146-456-11 since it is designed to work with rectangular heads port, also should've mentioned choppy sound desired, you will need a specific cam for that sound, if you are able to get a chain set go for 3 bolt type, there you can choose a wide cam's amount.

Okay I see... I have cathedral ports... Yes I would like choppy sound. So you're saying switch to a three bolt? Are there any other pros/cons to three bolt set up?

well, some say 3 bolt have more rigidity and stability to sprocket and you have more camshaft to choose with 3 bolt, but if you don't want to spend more money look for a single bolt cam with specs required.

Okay thanks for the info!!! I think Iʻm gonna stay with a single bolt since this is a cheap build and the fact that I am having a mechanic friend help me and donʻt want to be drowning him!!!

camshaft suggested by comp cams is great for your need it will give you a great low end torque and mid response, you just need to look for a tighter LSA to get that choppy sound.

Is that possible? How do I go about doing that? I know that the choppy sound is for more high end but is it still possible for what I want?

it is certainly possible, a did a little research to compcams catalog and couldn't find something for your request (because of center bolt cam) but i'm pretty sure there is something out there for your specific demand, contact compcams if there's nothing available you can get a custom one, try other brands too, remember to mention your needs..
