Default Help deciding on best VVT cam...

Hey Guys... I have an 07' L92 6.2 L stock engine and am looking to make a few upgrades. Car will be street driven, so I'm looking to increase performance where it will be used most. Car weighs 3800lbs, 3.73 gears, 27" tire, dual 2.5" exhaust no cats (will be switching from LS3 manifolds to LT headers), CAI, and I'm using the stock truck intake.

I plan on getting a Yank 3200 or 3600 stall converter and wanted to get a cam that could help me out on power. I want to keep the VVT, and was looking into the cam options offered by TSP and comp cams. Are there any other companies out there making VVT cams that I should be looking at? What are some cam recommendations that will give me a good boost in performance without loosing street-ability? I plan on getting the appropriate springs when I swap cams as well.

Thoughts?
Thanks

I think Mast offers VVT cams too.

Comp has been having issues with their cam cores lately, so I would be leery on getting a camshaft from Comp.

I'm also curious what issues have been found with comp camp. I've also heard horror stories about Mast customer service, so I'm not really anxious to give them my money.

Can someone chime in with experience with a TSP vvt cam?

As far as I know, Comp is the only company with VVT specific lobes. TSP/Mast will likely use a Comp Cam ground to their spec.

Correct. We do use Comp to grind our cams and haven't had any issues with any cores

Ditto. I haven't personally seen any issues with Comp, nor would I hesitate to use them again.

Patrick G specs custom VVT cams. I forget who he has grind them. It might be EPS but I am NOT positive. Member CAM has one running in a L92. He started a thread and mentions it.

Nothing that would cause a catastrophic engine failure like the Great 918 Pandemic a few years ago.

This is mostly related to something being out of spec in the core and causing a whine in the engine while it is running.

That wasn't really all that recent, was it? I was helping out at a shop during that time when the threads blew up on here and we were putting a Comp Cam into an engine 2-3 times a week; not one issue with whine or anything else. We also got those Comp Cams within a week of ordering them too.

The majority of it happened earlier this year, if I remember correctly.

Last I heard, random ones were still popping up here and there. But, you know, interwebz and all that.

I can tell you that all of our VVT cams are custom. We make them for quite a few different companies most are advertisers on LS! tech. I will also say that all cams are CNC ground to with in .0005 lift and .3 degrees of duration. After grinding they are all Cam Doctored then all lobes and mains are micro polished. One more thing if you want a 223@.05 with a .337 lobe with lobe separation of 112.5 +2.5
that is what you will get. We also make the new LT1 cams.
