Stripped Head Bolt Hole
Stripped a head bolt hole when torquing down my head studs. It's #5 on torque sequence on the driver's side. This is a junk motor that I plan on using till my forged motor is built.
My question to you all is; do you think if I leave it as is and run it I'll have issues? Not going to be beating on it, just want to be able to cruise the car around. All the other studs torqued fine to 75 ft lbs.

If you are just going to drive it normal, I wouldn't worry about it.
Maybe get some JB weld and put a liberal amount on the threads, let it set up and try to torque it to about 35 or 40# if it is junk.

I'm not sure what you mean by weld a socket? To what?

How long it will hold up is anyone's guess. Personally, I'd helicoil it and be done. I ran into the problem on BMW blocks, Honda blocks and GM blocks, Jaguar blocks, etc... always handle it the same way and it always works. Do it properly and it won't be an issue.

Well, that's the issue. A time-sert kit is $500. I already have a forged long block being built. So I don't want to invest in this block. This is a junk block that I'm just using to put in so I can cruise around in the car and get a base tune in it.

Old fashioned helicoil doesn't cost much. Shop around, considering using jb weld but looking at the expensive helicoil kits doesn't make sense. If you look around you can probably find a good option for the cost of a tank of gas.

My question was primarily to see if there was anyone else out there who had driven their cars without issues with a head bolt/stud missing.

I've seen cars that other techs have stripped head bolts on that were driven away and others that had to be pulled back apart and tepaired. It's a roll of the dice but it should run. You can also get a bolt or stud for a sbf and use 7/16-14 helicoil. It's common and way cheaper alternative to timesert or taking it out to 1/2 in. Good luck

I have installed Keen-serts and time-serts many times. You can buy just the insert instead of the whole kit. Fastenal carries them all separately.
Here is a link to Amazon. This one might work.
