Default Engine Pre-Lube Problem

I am using jmespe1's idea to prime my LS2. https://ls1tech.com/forums/tools-fab...l#post17609596

But, I am getting oil coming out of the port that comes from the oil pump to the oil filter inlet. This is the hole right next to the oil filter threaded adapter inside the oil pan's oil filter cavity/mount. I can't visualize how this could be happening. This hole should go straight to the oil pump pressure outlet.

Looking at the attached diagram, It acts like the oil is going straight from the pressure to the suction sides in the gallery. (Circled) It started leaking as soon as oil reached the oil filter adapter.

Is there a plug between these two galleries? I removed and cut the pan's sump so I'm not sure If I somehow screwed it up when reassembling the pan and pickup.

I just realized the oil filter bypass is underneath the blank cover above the filter. I believe that is what is leaking. However, when I had the pan apart I don't remember seeing a valve of any sort in there. Anybody have a pic of what it's supposed to look like in there?

I pulled the oil gallery plug next to the filter and can see the barbell plug. And, apparently, an LH8 pan has no bypass valve. I found the valve on other pans and it's located right next to the adapter. Mine has no provision for that. If I plug one of the holes under the blank cover it seems to send the oil on its way and not through the previously mentioned hole.

What am I missing here??!!

OK, by plugging the hole I'm just stopping the oil flow from the pump. This pump isn't putting out anywhere near the pressure that the OP's was. I see now where the oil has to go under the blank plate to continue on.

So now I'm convinced it's the barbell plug. I can see the "bar" part of it but can't tell if the actual plug (the inner one) that separates the two galleries is correct. It's either missing or leaking.

Does the inner plug with its ridges completely seal the gallery?
